Default need ideas for working out in a small apartment

I've definitely started incorporating exercise into my post-op life (walking to mailbox instead of driving, taking the stairs at work, etc), but I feel like I'm ready to step it up a notch.

I have three problems, though -- it's winter in the north east and I react very badly to the cold, I live in a small apartment, and I don't have the extra cash in my budget right now to join a gym (at least not will all the insurance issues regarding the WLS are resolved, my credit card bill is paid off, and I replenish the money I had to take out of savings to cover some x-mas expenses).

it's actually in my lease that I'm not supposed to have exercise equipment in my apartment, but I could probably get away with something that's compact enough to hide away when not in use and I'm open to any suggestions!

Get something collapsible like the Tony Little Machine (i don't care for it though, lol) orrrr maybe a pilates DVD. I have Winsor Pilates® and it works amaaaaazingly! Also, if you live close by to a YMCA, see if they have a work-out area and if so, ask if they have a financial aid or scholarship application. You could receive up to 70% off! I work at the Y, so I know all that stuff!

Hi! I have lived in the Windy City and the East Coast. Therefore, I know how cold it can get. I additional now have a small studio apartment. My suggestion is to invest in the Wii fit. It was the best investment I have made. I additonally invested in the dance, dance revoluation. It is so must fun that one night I was playing with it for hours and didn't realize it. Mari

Default Tae-Bo

I used to live in a small apt. too and while on one of my weight loss kicks, I started doing Tae-Bo. It's very similar to aerobics and not near as annoying as alot of the other videos. It works for any fitness level and you don't need a lot of room to do it. I would just move my coffee table to the side and had plenty of room. The videos are pretty cheap, probably less than $20. Hope this helps...good luck to you!

Walk Away The Pounds with Leslie Sansone

10 Minute Fitness Ball Workouts, this requires one of those large inflatable balls-I call them balance balls-and a light set of hand weights.

These, out of all the exercise videos & DVDs that I've tried, are by far the best. Especially the fitness ball dvd. You work muscles you didn't even know existed just by sitting on the ball and trying to maintain your balance.

Good luck finding what works for you!

Alan,
I don't know if you have cable but I get a channel called Fit TV on Direct TV. There's a great show called Total Body Sculpt with Gilad. It's really good, the guy's in Hawaii on the beach, he does alot with light hand weight but if you don't have those you can use soup cans so you're doing the form correctly until you get them. I Tivo so I don't know when it comes on but I'm sure you can look up the channel and see. I know he sells his videos too if you don't get the channel, you won't be sorry he's great.
Good luck.
Chrissie
