Ready to start a workout routine, how do you start?
Ready to start a workout routine, how do you start?
Find something that you enjoy; if you like it you’re more likely to stick to it. Working out does not have to take place at a gym. Local malls have walking clubs and with winter around the corner it’s not a bad place to walk and stay dry. Movement is the key; take the first step to a healthier you.
Commit yourself; make a commitment and stick to it. Keeping a journal or posting online can help hold yourself accountable. There are some online forms where you can make a contract for yourself.
Start out small; you’re not going to run a marathon the week after you start working out. Set small obtainable goals, short term and long term, check them off as you go. If you don’t create obtainable goals you will lose your motivation and eventually end up quitting. Also reaching those small goals shows you what you can accomplish and will encourage you to push forward.
Tell everyone; the more people you tell the more support you have. You will also push harder because you know people are watching you.
Chart everything; weight, bmi, inches lost. Keeping an accurate record will help you to make adjustments to your workout as needed. Weight is not the only thing to track, some will lose inches and the scale doesn’t move and it’s easy to get discouraged if you worked out hard and that scale didn’t move. That doesn’t mean that you’re not successful, check those inches!
Learn from your mistakes. You will not learn everything that you need to know over night. We all learn daily from each other and by sharing your struggles you can learn how to improve.
Water; need I say more. We need water to survive and need to watch out water intake.
Last but not least – Have Fun. This is your life make the most of it.
