You're not alone Julia. I can't seem to get myself to exercise either.

Shortly before surgery, I bought a BowFlex machine. The thing is huge, and is taking up my entire 4th bedroom. I see it everyday, just sitting there unused, and mocking me. But have I actually used the thing? Nope.

LOL As my mom would say...is it a clothes rack?

It's hard but you can do it! It's getting up and doing it that is the hard part. I love to exercise but I can't seem to start it back up once I've stopped. Due to my back problems this happens often.
I keep it simple. I love the Walk away the pounds DVD! So easy to use but so great on the body. Best part? I can do them in my home in front of the TV when the mood hits and the kids LOVE to do them with me. I found once I did them for about two weeks I wanted to go on long walks which helped add more exercise to my life. Also, if you get bored put some dance songs on and DANCE! I call it free dance just move any way you want...go with the beat. I bet you will feel so good doing it.
You can do! Exercise not only makes your body feel better but your mind too! Best of luck.

Lol, nope it's not a clothes rack yet. It would make a darned good clothes rack though, lol. As of now, the cats have taken it over, and like to lie on the padded seat. However, my exercise bike does have several things hanging on the handles, waiting to be boxed up for Goodwill.

I totally forgot about them, but I have a set of the Walk Away The Pounds video tapes too. They are pretty fun to do. I'm going to have to look in the TV cabinet and see if I can find my set.

Thank you guys for these responses!! I have been away and not by my computer!!
Love all of the ideas and encouragement. I have decided I am going to sleep in my workout clothes tonight!!! I will let you know tomorrow WHEN I get up and go!! Not if but when :-)

The hardest part for me is that I have to be at work (30min away) by 6am. So I have to get up at 3:45am to go to the gym but it's ok.. I'm worth it right??

Julia,

My BFF Christina works @ the G with you. I know that she'd be more than happy to exercise in the G gym or @ 24hr fitness if youre interested. She lives in La Mesa and though she works 1-9:30 would be willing to work with your schedule.

Let me know if you want an introduction to a very reliable but not overly skilled work out partner!

I don't think. I don't feel. I do.

Do you ask yourself each day, gosh, do I want to brush my teeth? hmmm... no - you just do it. I used to go to the gym in the mornings, I'd put out my clothes the night before, wake up, grab a protein bar and an apple, out the door, I was on the treadmill before I knew what happened. I went every day - no thinking, no decisions. I mean, I decided if I wanted to do the eliptical or arc machine, but I was there every day.

Motivation is not a requirement. Action is all that matters. You don't have to want to do it - just do it. Does that make any sense? Beleive me, if I didn't work out when I didn't "feel" motivated, I wouldn't be out there 1/2 the time. I work out because I need to - I know I need to...

It is so hard to explain.

Its like the little voices in your head that tell you you're too old, too fat, to tired, too hormonal, whatever - those voices that tell you not to exercise. I have them too - I ignore them. It is like, "Get thee behind me Satan!" and off I go.

Just go. Don't think, don't feel, don't wonder or have angst about it, just move your butt! (I say this with great love lol)
I really have to tell ya, I read Gina's response - went home - laid out gym clothes - set the alarm for 5:30 - and when it went off this morning I just got dressed and went. Without stopping to think about it! What a wonderful thing!!! (I'm exhausted... sooo not a morning person ... but I'm soooo pleased with myself!!! )

Thank you!!!
