Having trouble working out...
Hey ya'll....I have a quick question. I don't know if anyone else has dealt with this...but when I work out I tend to get dizzy/faint. Its not that I'm over-exerting" myself. I started out slow (like, 20 minutes on treadmill walking at a constant speed of 2...or less). Blahh, I don't know.
I think its because I sweat too much, and can't drink water fast enough to stay hydrated. Is there anyway to overcome this? I assume when I lose more weight, I'll sweat less and should have no problems...but I want to start exercising to decrease stalling periods I've been having. Any ideas?

along with the blood pressure meds question.... how much fluid are you getting in throughout your day.. how much before you exert yourself and are you able to drink through your workout some?

It might also be helpful to have a little protein shake before / after your workout to keep your energy levels on an even keel. I've been having a couple of issues related to low blood sugar -- and the same thing happens to me that you're feeling. I try to eat a little more frequently spread throughout the day and that seems to keep it under control.

my blood pressure is normal, so no meds.
I sip throughout the day...but i'm not exactly sure how much i'm actually getting. About two water bottles worth, plus some deluted juice every once in awhile.

You really need to get the H20 in, it is vital in your weight loss and your bodys function. How far out are you? i am 4 weeks out and i don't "sip" anymore, and i don't "chug" either. Make sure you get in atleast 64oz of water. I try for a gallon of liquids a day.

the water bottles are 20 ounces, so I guess thats only 40 ounces (give or take some broth at either lunch/dinner). I guess I should really up that. I just feel like I'm forcing myself to drink when I don't want to.
I'll be nine weeks out tomorrow! Down 40 pounds (yay)....so I must be doing some things right! Maybe I make myself worried about exercising. IDk...so many possibilities. Thank you for you help peeps!

40 ounces at 9 weeks out, while exercising too?? WAY too little fluid, hon.. if it means forcing yourself to drink.. do so.
For a while I had to do these little tricks to remember to drink..
1) set a timer for 30 minutes (I used a kitchen timer. Vim&Vigors idea)... and every 30 minutes I would make sure I drank a certain amount of fluid.. .. for a while, I had to make it 15 minutes as I still wasn't getting enough.
2) I have set a 'task' reminder in Outlook while at work that pops up every 30 minutes to remind me that I should be drinking something... I have it set to go off at 9am and then set the snooze for 30 minutes and whenever it goes off, I make sure I drink something
3).. I know it's controversial.. but my nut & surgeon are A-okay with me using a straw. I found I had been drinking with a straw for so many years that I actually take in LESS air with one than without and I also am able to drink more with.. and as long as I'm not having pains, I am allowed.
If you were a straw user before, you might want to look into that as well. I can drink almost double what I could without, due to the air intake problem. My straw usage came about accidentally.. but when I checked with them, they gave me the green light and I'm much happier for it.

Mistymee: THANK YOU for your suggestions. I will definitely put them to use, particularly the timer. I can't believe I went this long without truly getting into a healthy liquid pattern. I'll set my cellphone up and start tomorrow!
And I never thought of "straw-withdrawal". I ALWAYS used straws prior to surgery for EVERYTHING...so that might explain why I'm having trouble drinking. I will check with my doctor to make sure...but I'm sure it won't hurt anything.
