You want me to WHAT???!!!!
RUN? Well folks, I (for reasons unknown to me) agreed to go running w/my sister-in-law in the mornings starting on Wed., 6:15 am. WTF?!!! We will be going Mon.-Fri. except on Tues.. Can I just tell you how freaked out I am?! I don't run unless I'm being chased by something!
No seriously, I am excited that I'll be getting out there & doing it, but also apprehensive. My sister is like a buck-twenty sopping wet & jogs regularly...the thought of my fat ass pouring sweat & have a f*cking anyerysm next to her just scares me a bit!!
But it is a step in the right direction, so I'm in!!!!

Can I get a what what...
I hear you with the running. I cannot honestly look back on my 29 years of existence and remember EVER running. Not in school ( I always walked the mile ). I have never been chased down and never even attempted to jog. So, now being post-op and 110lbs down.. I joined Gold's gym.
I found myself on the treadmill and turning up the speed little by little to see what my "new" body could endure. I got up to the running speed and I started to... but then just felt that scared feeling. I know it's corny.. seriously.. I was so embaressed as to what I would look like running. Do I even run right? Is the movement I am doing running? I felt that fat little girl again in me and it took me back to gym class years ago. I found myself turning down the treadmill and just taking it back down to a fast paced walk.. even jogging is a little akward.. I just can't feel comfortable doing it.
So.. all I wanted to say.. is, best of luck and you are not alone on the feeling akward about running. And if anyone else replies... please tell me if this was a problem for you even after the weight loss as well.

Take it easy tiger
If your sister is a good sister, she will understand if you take it slowly I hope! You may need to do intervals at first. Walk for 2 min, then jog for two minutes.
Advice - try to touch the ground with the ball of your foot first, don't slam into your heels, it is too hard on your body. Walking that is fine, but there is a different weight distribution. Also, this will one day make you faster. Could be tough on your calves at first, dont worry, you'll shape up quickly.
Also - you may want to take a day off in between. I am 154 and can't run two days in a row or my knee starts to bother me, now that may be from when I was 288, I don't know, but just listen to your body.
Also, while running, (and I actually mean slow jogging please!!) keep as little motion in your body as possible - but I just realized your sister will tell you all this. However, if she is at an ideal weight, she can get away with a little more than you and I can. Be careful!! Don't worry about your lungs, they'll come, but watch the knees, feet, hips etc.
Good luck!!

Update
So we went for the first time this morning...it was great!! we just walked at a fast pace. We decided that were going to do that until I'm comfortable enough to jog a little, and work up gradually from there.
I totally psyched myself out...what a dork!!
And you know what? I feel just CAPITAL!!!

Congrats. My Dad keeps telling me to walk with him, but he has ran like 2 marathons and 3 halfs plus too many 5k and 10k's to count. I don't even want to try to keep up with him.
Some day, some day...
Still waiting on ins. approval.

I was just now reading about your running. How is it going? You have much more courage than me I'm not even ready to try that yet.

My advice to anyone who has the ability to run....do it!
I wish with all my heart and soul that I could run or even jog but an inherited problem with both of my legs prevents me from running, jogging, skipping, or jumping. The best I can do is to walk as fast as I can.
So instead of bemoaning the reasons why you shouldn't/wouldn't/couldn't run........think about folks like me who would give anything to do what you're capable of doing. Just do it!
(getting off soapbox)
