What a difference a year (and 100+ pounds) makes!
So, today I decided to go for a walk. I've been sticking to my gym routine, but I hadn't taken a good long walk for a while. So today I decided, I would go out for a wander. I put on my iPod, grabbed my keys, and a water bottle and set off. The route I took mixes uphill and downhill roadways and runs five miles round trip. At one point there is a 15% incline. Well my WLS friends I am proud to say that I completed the route in less than an hour and did not stop or get out of breath once! Now, for reference, juxtapose this with the same time last year when I weighed 388, stopped 3 times to rest, and took almost 2 hours.
Thank you Dr. C!

Fantastic Chia!
It IS amazing how a little at a time, continuously ends with a noticeable result! Remember to measure yourself and take more current photos!
Happy continuation!

Chia - congratulations.
You have done a remarkable job losing weight. And walking 5 miles in under an hour is quite an achievement. Well done!

Thanks guys. I've discovered that it is a great butt/thigh/midsection workout to do long walks like that with lots of uphill sections. =0)

Chia congrats!!! I weigh 350lbs, walk 45 min and feel like a train just ran over me when im done. It really inspires me to know I too will be able to feel great after a long walk once I have my surgery...
Before you had surgery, did you have any issues with joint pain?
Im trying to figure out if my ankle and knee pain will go away once I loss some weight.
Yes, please show us some before and after pictures

I didn't have problems with joint pain, but my legs used to get really swollen after standing for a long time. I'll start posting pics soon. I was 350 the day of surgery and I'm 259 today. I still have a ways to go.
As for exercise just keep it up and do whatever works for you. I dig walking, but if you have joint issues, swimming is a great way to burn calories, but take it easy on your joints. I do have to say that walking really does wonders for your lower body (butt, legs, thighs). Though, I do have to say, I've still got quite a bit of "junk in the trunk" haha.

How soon did you start exercise after your surgery? I'm 4 days out and still pretty sore. I figured about 1 month before exercise. I have been walking.
Thanks, Sandi

Real exercise, I'd say that I waited 8 weeks. Your body will let you know when you are ready, but right after the surgery, walk around your neighborhood as much as possible. =0)
