Default walking shoes.....

I'm sooo frustrated!.. I spent well over six hours yesterday, trying on dozens of pairs of walking shoes without finding a single pair where my heel did not slip out of when walking.

I have been a 9 to 9 1/2 wide shoe for years and years... but it didn't seem to matter what size I tried.. first few I tried were 8.5's.. they fit.. heel comes out, so I try regular width, heel slips out.. I went as far as trying on a pair of 7.5's and even then my heel slipped out of those.

I tried on Reebok, Nike, New Balance, Saucony, Ecco, Merrill, Easy Spirit, Asics and Ryka.

The shoes I'm using now are VERY old and not very comfortable, but far more than those with my heel popping out. I just don't know what to do! No one in any of the stores had any good suggestions that might help me.

I have a wide foot too. I noticed you tried Easy Spirit. I buy my walking shoes from them online here Easy Spirit

They are called API and I have worn these for the past 12 years now. (No, not the same pair of shoes! ) Very comfortable and not bad looking either. They ship out quickly and can be returned if they don't fit.

Hope this helps a little.

Teri

P.S. If you think you might need a narrow width now, I believe they have those too. We`DO lose weight in our feet!

Thanks... appreciate the suggestion. I have an easy spirit locally so I might check them out again. Yesterday I was with my fiance and he was very patient the first few hours.. but we were both getting hungry and decided to leave to eat dinner. (it was 8 pm by that time!).. I'll go back and check the store out again.
