I think as soon as you heal, there should be nothing from stopping you from doing any kind of exercise you want. They just limit the intense exercise the first 4-6 weeks cause they don't want you lifting anything.

As soon as you get clearance to do exercise that involves strengthening your core you can start yoga. I personally started exercising with water aerobics and then the cardio machines at the gym and the added a gentle yoga class. I didn't discover Bikram until 2 years after surgery.

I've always wanted to do yoga but was just uncomfortable that i couldn't do much of what everybody else is doing. I did a prenatal class thinking it might be a better time to jump in, but i still just felt uncomfortable compared to the other prego ladies who were smaller than me.

BUT, I've decided to take the plunge...or baby step, rather. There's a place in La Mesa called Gentle Way (any other SDers know of it?) and they have a class called "very gentle yoga." The style and approach seems very casual and approachable, talks about how it's for health-challenged, newbies and extremely unflexible peeps. I'm excited and it's a place to start my yoga journey to go along with my WL journey.
