What motivates you?
What motivates you to exercise? I do it but can't say that I am to motivated. I do it more because of guilt. I don't want to feel that way and am looking for motivation to make exercise some thing to look forward to.
Lets here what gets you moving

I used to go out and do a morning walk and afternoon walk around our office complex, but then I got lazy the last couple of years. It is funny that you bring up this topic, because I finally got off my butt and went for a walk this morning the minute you were making this post. Spring is now wanting to pop around here and it feels good to go out for a walk in this cool weather before it gets too hot for the summer. MY MOTIVATION is that I want to lose enough weight before summer so I will not have to be so miserable by the time Santa Fe starts hitting the 90 degree weather.
Just put it in your mind that the surgery is not going to do it all. We have to get up off our butts and excercise. Not to soud so cruel or anything, but that is the only way I'm going to drop the LBS!!!

I know exercise is an important role in our weight loss. I think I have the winter blues. It is snowing and about 6 degrees right now. The roads and sidewalks are pure ice. I have a gym membership so I don't have an excuse its to cold out. I just think I am down with the all the snow. Once I get home I do not want to get out for anything. Last night I swore I would go to walmart and buy an exercise tape for home but started feeling sick and went home. Once it warms up I probable won't be able to stay in the house. Remember the movie The Shining? I think I will snap soon if the snow continues.
I know what I need to do I just have to find away to get myself to do it.

I feel so wonderful being able to push my body to new limits, that the increased fitness levels, and seeing how I improve over time really motivates me. It is such a huge change from when I started working out, and I am so much more capable than I used to be, that it motivates me to keep pushing. I feel so much more confident and comfortable in my body than I did before. When I was obese, I was very hesitant on my feet, so much so that I even felt nervous stepping onto an elevator. I always used the railings on stairs. Well, no longer. I noticed today for the first time that I run down the stairs in the middle of the stairs...I gave up my reliance on the railing a long time ago and didn't even notice it!
I love the feeling of being active, and the way my body responds and rewards me by feeling good, giving me tons of energy, and also looking better. The looking better though is the least motivating for me...I spent way too long obese and unfit, that I feel like I'm making up for lost time now...which I probably am, but it sure is fun!

Gossip Mags!
Hi Kim,
I am 3 and a half weeks post-op (lap rny) and didn't exercise before the surgery at all. At 325 pounds, it was just too hard. In trying to get back in the habit the last few weeks, I have found that those juicy, colorful gossip magazines, like US Weekly and People are a great motivation for me. I have a treadmill at home and get a few of the magazines I love - ones that have short articles, lots of pictures and lots of juicy celeb gossip - and only look at them while I am walking on the treadmill. It takes my mind off what I am actually doing and makes the time fly by! Before I know it, I've walked for 20 minutes! Another thought, depending on what you enjoy, I once lost about 75 pounds on my own doing TAE-BO. It's fast paced and fun if you like that sort of thing and you don't have to leave the house to do it. Plus, you can do it when it fits your schedule. Hope this helps...

As I was losing the motivation was to have as little skin as possible...and i wanted my TT for my one year surgiversary. Now I go to the gym every so often, but because I have so much energy and am in relatively good shape, things like snow in the driveway motivate me to get out and shovel so I don't get stuck. I also ride horses, and my love for them gets me to the barn whether or not I ride - I may muck and feed one day and ride another - its all moving and some form of exercise that I love love love!

I have decided if I don't work out three times per week, that I am going to Kick my own ass! I don't think I would like that, so I stay motivated. (I am such a jerk)

yous a superstar Integrating things into your everyday life is the key to long term happiness and success. Your awesome.
I think my motivation changes every few months. Now im just trying to maintain a honest 190lbs and if I see it going up a few I just don't feel right about it. I've been eating like crap past few weeks and not working out and im like 196....and I feel like poop.
You just feel alot better when you workout and are maintaining your weight/lifestyle. Its very full filling for those of us who were once MO to severe MO. I sometimes think people who have never been fat sometimes can't idealize with us that easily and don't find the same satisfaction in the little things that we notice so much.
Everythings all realitive I suppose but, if I aint working out and eating good....I just don't feel right anymore.
