Default iTunes Podrunner Podcasts in 10 Easy Steps!

Note: These podcasts can be downloaded and used on any mp3 player, not just an iPod.

I've been loving these FREE Podrunner podcasts in the gym lately. They are speedy kick butt mixes of exercise music! Podrunner is a nonstop, fixed Beats Per Minute (BPM) music mix from DJ Steve Boyett. The music alternates between about 140 BPM and 180 BPM. (On the elliptical machine, I’m doing between 4.4 mph and 7.0 mph when listening to it.) I like the Interval ones, but there are some that let you pick a BPM that suits you…see the directions below. These directions assume that you are using the latest version of iTunes. If you are not, you should be prompted to update every time you start iTunes. If you are unsure if you are running the latest version, click “HELP” up top, and then click on “CHECK FOR UPDATES.”

Directions for downloading Podrunner Podcasts:

1. Open the iTunes store and on the left side menu, click on “Podcasts.”
2. In the search area, top right, type in PODRUNNER and click ENTER. You will have two choices: PODRUNNER: Intervals, or PODRUNNER: Exercise Music.
3. Click either offering to see what is available for download. All of the offerings are FREE, so download whichever you choose by clicking SUBSCRIBE for each of the Podcasts you want. (Subscribing means that new Podcasts will automatically download to your computer. You can unsubscribe anytime by deleting the files from your iTunes music folder.)
4. Please note that you can choose Interval sets that alternate BPM’s or you can choose a BPM that suits you.
5. Once downloaded, if you are using an iPod with iTunes, open your Podcast folder to see what you’ve downloaded.
6. Make sure your iPod is plugged in to your computer, and simply drag and drop the podcasts to your iPod, the way you would a song. It would be helpful if your iPod is updated with the latest software, but it is not necessary in order to enjoy the Podcasts.
7. If you are using another mp3 player, you will need to import the podcasts from your iTunes music folder.
8. In the MY MUSIC folder on your computer, you should find your iTunes folder. Inside that folder, click on iTunes Music, then Podcasts to see what you’ve downloaded, then import them the way you would a song to your mp3 player.
9. That’s about it, except for going to the gym and testing it out. Find it on your mp3 player, plug in your earphones and get hopping!
10. As a final thought, you might notice that there are dozens of podcasts on iTunes. All are free, and by looking around you may find other stuff that interests you: News, Sports, Talk Radio, Music, etc. Finding something you like to listen to is very motivating in the gym and helps the time pass very quickly! The procedure for downloading and using any of the others is the same as for the Podrunner Podcasts. Good luck, and feel free to email me if you have any questions.

-Mike

I'm glad you liked it Doug. I thought it was great! (Especially since it's free.) When I was writing out the directions, I found all kinds of other "exercise" mixes that are all free podcasts! I've already used them with the elliptical machine, and I think they're very motivating!

I figured if you had a question about how to do it, that others might as well...I hope you enjoy it. I've REALLY liked it so far!

Maybe you should learn that this forum doesn't tolerate SPAM, regardless of whether you post as jenzwhiz or ginalyn.
