Default An exercise WOW moment for Squishy

OK, I had a very significant WOW moment yesterday...

I was at the the YMCA in my step aerobics class. The instructor decided to mix it up and broke us into two teams. We had to do a relay race across the gym using the step-aerobics steps as obstacles. We had to run toward them, step up onto them with both feet, then step off both sides before running to the next.

I was dreading this. I was the kid picked last in gym class in school. I was the guy that lost the teams huge lead when it was my turn in those gym classes. I was the guy who would have give ANYTHING to be ANYWHERE else in those moments.

The step aerobics class ranges from 22 years old to about 50. I am one of the oldest in the group at 46. The teams were pretty evenly matched and, when it came to be my turn, the other team was ahead by just a little. I could not believe what happened! I was up against a person who was about 30 years old and very fit. I kept up!!! I actually gained a little ground! I lost by inches, but I felt like I was flying over those steps!!! I wasn't the fat kid anymore.

Then... she had us team up in teams of two. We had to start at opposite sides of the gym, run together jump up and double high five each other five times, then run backward to the starting point and do five push ups. My partner and I were done first!!! I actually won a physical competition (of sorts)!!! Next we had to do it 10 times, and then 15. We came in second at both 10 and 15. We only lost by a second or two.

This is really unbelievable!
Just had to share.

WOW!

Your remark about always being the kid who was last to be picked really hit home Mike. It took me back to a time that I don't want to remember.

I am so proud of you! Congratulations! I'd rate that as a major success.

The squish master - I read this and literally heard the excitment in your voice. As the one who was always picked first, I apoligize for picking you last when I was a kid. Isn't it awesome to win - there is no feeling like it, no matter what the competition. I am a very competitive spirit and I can see and hear the joy in your words, Well done mate! Cool that we can be winners while siting on the losers bench. I lke that - I am going to put it in my signature. Winner, proudly taking his seat on the loser's bench!
