Since that last post I did, you guys lit a fire under my flabby ass and I went to the gym....droppped off my daughter at Musical Theater Class and in the 1 hour I had, raced to the gym and did 30 minutes on the Elliptical machine...mind you, I haven't done 30 minutes (I've been only doing 20) on it since before surgery...so that felt great!!!

Thanks for the inspiration!

The Elliptial machine is not a bike. You stand on it...and your legs move back and forth like you're cross country skiing...your arms also move back and forth. Its much easier on your knees than a stairclimber...and you can adjust the incline and the resistance as you feel necessary. Its a good cardio workout without the knee/hip impact (I think I might have hip arthritis).

It is low impact, you sort run but with your feet on these...look for a video on-line. The greatest thing about the elliptical is the gluteal program - you can SOOOOO work your butt off - really. You can get some nice burning going and that means your ass is looking great. I can not believe what my butt looks like - between the elliptical and rowing. I thank God every day - after all these years of flabby horror - these two machines are giving me buns of steel. Now when these last 22 - well, today 25 (damn musical) go - all that will be left is nice tight cheeks.

All hail the elliptial machine!!

There are two basic ways to show defenition - number one is lose the excess body fat. No matter what level of muscle you're carrying, you'll show it if your overall body fat percentage goes down. Meanwhile, preparing for this lovely day - you can do resistance training. I mean, I know the running has changed my legs, I have it from a reliable source that they look thinner (I do not see this at all) but as far as what machines I would use - the aductor/abductor isolates inner thighs well - gets outer and glutes too. If you can find any leg exercises that use an exercise ball - the ball involves all sorts of involuntary muscles while you're on it - very good for you.

But moving, burning calories, reducing body fat - that is 95% of the battle. Resistance training has its place, no doubt, can help with metabolism for sure... Best bet is to ask a personal trainer though - I dont really have any brilliant ideas - I teach music. And if you have ANY questions about the musical "How to succeed in business without really trying", I'm your girl.

Good luck! I'll think of you tomorrow morning while I'm sweating out my 6.2 miles. Haven't gone that far in two weeks - I'll be calling for my mommy by 3!!

Default What the heck are we doing out here??

Alright - I'm getting pissed. Everytime I'm on the cusp of actually getting somewhere - something STUPID happens. Well I'm done with stupid. I'm going to kick some major butt this week (I have off) and go where I have never gone before. Any of you coming with me??

The new trainer, workouts etc. are drastically changing my musle structure and shape, but until this fat is gone, I won't even know what I have under there. So the heck with this.

The kicking of the butt will start...now. Better put on my boots!

Alrighty...I'm down for this. I was 158 last week, but have somehow jumped 5 pounds this week. I don't have a uterus anymore, so I don't have a period. I do, however, have ovaries, so I do have a cycle. I think I'm pre-what used to be menstually bloated, but...I've also been eating more slider carbs the last week or so. But not 5 ounds worth of 'em. Maybe it's also some water weight...as my sliders have been salty things...Chex mix seems to be haunting me these days.

Anyhow, we're going to Jamaica on the 19th of April...and I'd sure love to be 150 by then. That would put me at 5 pounds from my first goal of 145...Been thinking that maybe I ought to decide my next goal is 135. I'm a 10 right now...145 would probably be an 8. Which used to seem like winning the weight loss lottery. But now...a 6 seems like it's within my grasp now.

So...I have 5 days off starting Friday. Gonna give the 5 day pouch test a spin and see how it goes. I'm swimmimg 2 nights a week...and I walk 4 nights a week for an hour. I am doing 300 sit ups nightly, and I do my stepper for 25 minutes 5 nights a week also. Been including some light weight training at home also.

Glad I found this post. Y'all have given me the motivation to git 'er done. Thanks! Hey Gina...2 things...What kind of heart monitor do you use? And where did you get it? And...one of these days I'd love to meet you. You live so close...

Goal! I did it!
105 pounds gone since my RNY
119 total pounds gone forever!
I finally have a "normal" BMI
Reached my first goal of 145...and setting a new one of 135.
Reached 135 and have decided to lose another five if I can.

I'm in the 130's for the first time since puberty!

I just drove to frikin buffalo! I can come see you at a moment's notice!! You're right around here, right? I'm in Woodstock. (Peace out, man)

I have an F4 but I dont recommend it. The higher numbers are better - F11 or even F7 are suppose to be good. Just check out the web site, figure out what you need.

I also have a bodybugg - now that is serious! this thing tells me how many calories I burn every minute of the day. Very cool.

So lets plan a get together!

Default Hey - where's my team??

Come on folks - grab a hold - I'm going down!

I finally found the formula - new trainer, what to eat (wasn't eating ENOUGH - if you can believe it) and I suspect, if all goes well and God is in on this plan, I should be at goal in 10 weeks or less. I have exactly 20 to go now.

So where is everyone?? It is spring right? We're all getting outside and running around doing things? Lets drop this last 20 and be done with it!!

Woohoo!
