NO lifting over ten pounds, which you obviously know. It takes six weeks for those inner stitches to heal, so pay attention...
I put in a call to the doctor just in case. I'm three weeks out, and I don't want to give my body ANY reason to ever have to be in the hospital again, trust me! I'm waiting for the go ahead from the doctor before I start anything! Thanks, though...

Thumbs up Glad you started this thread!

Hi Mike

I also spent my last couple of days off work touring the gyms in our area and was similarly fortunate to find a recently refurbished gym touting for new punters with a very special deal (£28.00 for peak times)

I started back at work yesterday and have also started swimming in the mornings - 10 laps yesterday and 20 this morning - nothing streneous and looking more like a puppy treading water than a dynamo Roland Schoeman impersonation

Lisa - what is your expert advise about swimming this early on? This coming Wednesday will be a full three weeks since surgery and I am happy to say that my wounds are healed over and Dr D do internal dissolvable stitches.

Look forward to hearing from you

Default My doctor's advice...

Gwen, dear,

My doctor's advice on swimming was to wait four weeks to swim if it was your own home swimming pool, six weeks to swim in a public pool. It was more about getting water on open incisions and being exposed to other people's germs than stress, if I recall. If your skin incisions from the surgery are entirely closed, and the gym is very clean, I would think it would be fine.

Exercise is key to getting the weight off and keeping it off, and doing exercise that you enjoy, and that you will keep doing is really important. Glad to see you're already getting out there!
