Default My Bike Adventure!

You know what I discovered yesterday? I discovered that when you are obese, you are really missing out on things in life!

I've had my 3 speed beach cruiser for a few weeks now. Let me remind you that this was the first time I've been on a bike for about 20 years! I've been riding it in the evening after sun goes down so nobdy sees me...then I got over myself and started riding it in the daylight...And yesterday....Wow! I went on a 4 mile ride that was absolutely amazing! (and yes, it was in daylight)

I live right by a river trail that leads to the beach. I've lived here for 13 years and this is the first time I've ever been on it! See what I've been missing? The feeling of the ocean breeze blowing through my hair and the warm sun felt fabulous! When we got to the beach, my daughter and I pushed our bikes on the sand and watched the waves roll in while we took a water break. We rode our bikes on the boardwalk and I actually felt like a normal person! Nobody stared, nobody pointed fingers...I felt normal.

Things I learned on my first bike adventure:

*One should always wear sunscreen while going on a bike ride, unless you want a lobster farmer's tan!
*One should peddle faster when they see a hill coming up!
*Squirrels are very cute!
*It's good to have a bell! Ring, Ring!
*Keep your eyes on the road ahead of you, not on the scenery!
*One should always wear sunglasses while riding!
*Those lifeguards are very cute!
*7-11 sells crystal lite slurpees!!!
*And last, but not least---I am so lucky to have had surgery, losing weight, feeling great, and being able to enjoy my wonderful surroundings in a new way!

Watch out people...Here I come! Ring-Ring!!!!

I feel as though I've waited all of my life to do what you just did. I dream about riding around the reservoir that's not far from my house. I've wondered if I could find a bike that could support my 500+ lbs.
I can't wait!!!!! Lord willing and if the creek don't rise.

No, John, I was on my bike ride in the middle of the day...Therefore, the lobster farmer's tan on my arms! Next time I'll have to remember my sunglasses and my sunscreen.

Default Bike love

Oh I hear you. I love being out there on the bike. I've seen ring necked pheasants, almost hit a chipmunk, and even startled a red fox the other day. These are all things I never would have seen if I hadn't lost the weight.

My favorite new word though is Gel Chamois - those bike shorts with the padding between you legs...I won't go into more detail but, they make life much more comfy.
