completely depends on what you are going for. Typically unless you are really using alot of calories you don't need to eat before. Infact the best time to eat during the day is after a workout since that helps curve you're metabolism

my take is a bit different

if you are like me and dont eat after 8pm, getting up at 5am every morning, that is 9 hours without fueling your body, my suggestion - instant carnation breakfast, or a glass of milk, those are better than nothing and kickstarts your metabolism, as well liquids are great as we can begin drinking water during our workouts, then fuel with food after your workout- egg whites and fresh tomato slices are my favorite after my morning workouts, then once you can drink, sip water water water.

good luck, and congrats on choosing exercise, you will be glad you did, we only get one body, and its time we start taking care of it, so glad you are, now if you havent already, why not join the gym rat club here?

I would agree. Ofcourse you're workout time will great change things. If you haven't eaten at all and have zero fuel in you're body ofcourse please eat before. I'm assuming you are actually eating within a decent amount of time pre workout. If you are then don't worry about it. Unless you start to feel yourself getting sick/tired too early in you're workouts.

I ate a bannana and drank a glas of milk pre workout everyday. More often that not i'd say you are gonna be just fine not worrying about it. Ofcourse this greatly depends on what kind of workout you are doing and when.

Default Try it

I just do what my pouch and energy level tell me to. If I don't have anything, I'm drippy. If I have a protein shake, I'm pretty good. I've tried having some fruit or 1/2 bran muffin and they all take me down - pouch is too busy to deal with that much food for me.

But I would eat a little something. I've also been told to have some protein right afterwards to retain muscle mass. Who knows?
