The next gym rat...
Who would believe that I* actually joined a gym. Been a member for an entire week.. and am actually GOING! Its a trip.. VERY fun stuff. my friend RoseAnn (who is now a member of this forum as Gypsy) and I go. 3 miles on the Recumbant (maybe 4 tonite who knows!).. and then either legs or arms. We probably look like idiots looking at the pictures of how to use the equipment.. but I really dont even care.. and the view in the free weight section is yummy!
There is a crunch machine there that I love. (Yes Carrie I know.. manual crunches too! :P) How on EARTH do you get OFF that thing without flashing the world your hoo-ha? (Maybe I need tighter shorts?).. One of us is on look-out while the other gets off it.. (thats putting it nicely.. the minute the coast is clear.... we ROLL off it... lol VERY classy! NOT!)...
I waited a week to admit I joined up... but today is the first morning after a night at the gym that I woke up and wasnt in pain lol.. my ass doesnt hurt, my legs dont hurt, and neither do my arms/shoulder (and that was what I worked out last night!)...
I see the people RUNNING on the treadmill.. and think.. I wanna do THAT.. then I see the girl doing the dipping dives thingie.. and I think.. .I wanna do THAT.. and then I get on the elliptical and think.. I wanna do a full minute LOL.. (ok.. it has to be close but omg.. that thing kicks my hiney!)
My goal is to be the next Carrie or Gina... I wanna be a gym rat!

I'm glad you are taking it up even before you're sugery thats just awesome. Looking around the gym and setting goal's for yourself is really what its all about.
I couldn't be happier for you and you will see working out just makes all the difference. Im sure you are already noticing slight changes like you're energy.
Awesome news and congrats!

It's amazing how good you feel when you exercise. I was just sick for a week or so, and didn't go....but went last night, and it really felt great! I never thought I'd say that! I don't work out like the "youngsters"...but I do walk an hour on the treadmill and then do some of the machines to work on the arm flab! Congrats on going to the gym. You'll be better for it! I do have a co-worker who never exercises, she's 36 years old, and her arms look great! Like she never was heavy. Her stomach looks like Van's..very nice. Some people can get away without exercise...but I'm not one of them!

Pass the cheese
Squeek! Welcome to the rat club. Hey - are we the TT rat pack? Maybe we'll get t-shirts?
I actually missed 4 days in a row when I went to Toronto and had three competitions all in three days. I felt like poopy when I went back in yesterday, but feel much better today. I'll be in every day for the next two weeks until my one year appt. Yikes!!

Way to go!
Jen, just wait until you get to where you miss it if you don't go! You and me, girlfriend, we are going to be in such awesome shape we are gonna walk to sunny CA to see if we can kick John's butt! (Just to see how far we'd get!) I'm sure he'd let us try...
Gina- LOVE the idea of the tee shirts!
I'm going to come up with a TT Gym Rat Tune...I mean, I do live with a professional musician!

John is in Dallas - but it is still a long walk. But if we're forming a line to kick John's butt, I'm all for it!!

Made it to a full minute on the eliptical.. LOL.. I laugh at myself.. but It worries me that that machine kicks my hiney that hard! It about killed me the last 10 seconds..
Im not in shape for sure.. but I really do have biceps under all this fat... and my legs are already changing shape..
QUESTION: I am knock kneed bad.. so... what is the muscle in the OUTSIDE of your knee.. I think I need to work that .. to make it longer.. so the inside muscle can pull it back? (Wishful thinking.. I probably have to have my legs broken and put in the right spot... thats what they always said.. and .. thats why they are still crooked )

Well this is week 3 for me at the gym. I havent lost a pound! Of course, Im on a mission to eat everything in the state before my surgery. This week I moved up to 30 minutes on the bike (6.5 miles). THinkin Im going to stay at that level for a while, and just increase the level of the program (went from 3 to 4 this week). Still alternating upper & lower body workouts.
Had a huge thing today.. my gym partner didnt show up (sick).. so I actually worked out alone. The old Jen would have said screw it and went home... this one didnt even blink.. oh.. RoseAnn isnt here.. hmm.. go up and start in, thinkin she would be late.. nope.. never made it and I still went through everything I wanted to.... Woot.
The free tanning is cool too.. cept when you burn your ass... someone could have warned me that that HURTS! lol...
