Not trying to sound mean but they might as well had put GASTRIC BYPASS PATIENT on the side of your name. That is a very personal matter no matter how you loose your weight, it is weight you worked to get off.

Other world
The folks at my gym were trying to get me to do their Biggest Loser competition and I refused. I said that it didn't seem quite right and their reaction was, "You're dragging your butt in here every day - that is your unfair advantage - few people have your level of comitment and motivation."
I ended up not doing it because I was in like, month 9 or so, and knew I wasn't losing very fast anyway.
I realize every day how lucky I am to belong to such an amazing gym. I will say that the attitude of the staff there has been greatly influenced by the owner, who I believe (well, he told me) has seen several people get this surgery and totally screw it up by expecting the surgery to change them. He has told me many times that I am "doing it right."
Amazing what a little education can do!

JMO......
I always refer back to MY BODY, MY BUSINESS..........I don't need to be part of a competition to be motivated to loose weight. They shouldn't have posted it up there w/ a special circumstance. They don't do that for people who have recently had the stomache flu and didn't eat for a week do they?
I have posted before there is a "stigma" in traditional weightloss venues: they don't want MO people going for GBS because then we wouldn't spend our hard earned money on weight watchers, gyms, spas, Jennie Craig etc. We will instead follow the advice of a Medical Doc (that guy or gal who went to medical school for most of his or her adult life to become knowledgeable about the inner workings of the body and mind and how they work together.
Maybe I'm a nut but I rather go off the advice of someone who has spent their career studying this issue than someone who sat down for "training" at a computer module and memorized inflated statistics and answers to possible questions.
