Thanks, you guys! It makes me feel so good to come here and have people know how I feel. I was proud of my 22 minutes and one of my friends who is a gym rat shot me down this afternoon. I was kinda down, but ya'll picked me right back up! My friend is ~350 but she is very active and has always worked out. She doesn't get how I could "only" do 22 minutes when all I was doing was light cardio. I took today off since it was Sunday and I'm not sure when I can go tomorrow. Hubby and I share a car so transportation is a problem. I pretty much go straight from work to community band so if I go it will be after 9:00. Luckily, the gym is open until midnight! I really thank you guys for your encouragement. It means a lot!

I love the gym! I cant get enough of it. At first it kinda sucked, but now its something I look forward to everyday. I work out alot more than I should, but its paying off. And Chuck loves sauna's.

Okay, my first two days were 15 minutes and 22 minutes. Day one (Friday), I did 15 minutes on the treadmill. Day two (Saturday), I did 5 minutes on the recumbent bike, 15 minutes on the treadmill, and 2 minutes on the elliptical (NOT going there again for quite a while!). I took Sunday off and went back last night. Last night, I did 10 minutes on the recumbent bike and 15 minutes on the treadmill, so I did 25 minutes total! I am going at lunch today and I am aiming for AT LEAST 30 minutes. I know I can do it! I'll do 15 on the bike and 15 on the treadmill. I met with my nutritionist yesterday and she said I should be doing 45 minutes to an hour daily. ugh! I told her I joined the gym and I was working my way up, but that right now I can't even imagine doing an hour. I mean, I'm shrinking but I do still weigh 379! I am proud of my 25 minutes yesterday, no matter what the nutritionist says! Yeah, me!

I sometimes think that some of these experts don't really stop and think of what is coming out of their mouths. I know exactly what you mean about still weighing alot and not being able to do as much as people think you should. I mean, geeeeezzzzzz, most people that are skinny don't even do an hour a day! And here we are starting at so much more of a higher weight and people think because we lose 50 pounds we should act like small people that don't have a problem getting their breath or knee problems. You hang in there Tonya, I'm VERY proud of you hon. You are doing awesome and you seem very determined. That's all that matters. So, do what you can. You have to listen to your body.

I think an hour a day is too little, but then again I am younger than most of the people who post here. When I first joined the gym I hated it and only stayed 40 minutes, but I got into a routine and I have noticed that the more I go the more energy I have and the better I feel. I just think once you find your own routine stick with it and you can easily get up to an hour a day. Its worth it too. I love the gym it sorta relaxes me when I go to the gym and come home and I feel so much better.

Tonya!!! ***Clapping*** You go girl with your 25 minutes!!!! I am so proud of you setting incremental goals for yourself daily - I did it weekly I started at 272, and wouldn't set foot on the gym, but did water aerobics b/c it was easier to move my mass in the water rather than on land. You have courage and determination - a perfect combination for your success. Keep up the great work, sweetie!

Thanks for the applause, Whit!

I went to the gym at lunch today. I was super-motivated because it wasn't first thing in the morning when I'm not awake yet or at night when I'm already exhausted. I made it to 30 minutes on the cardio! I did 5 minutes on the recumbent bike, 10 minutes on the regular bike, and 15 minutes on the treadmill. Then, I had a little more time so I decided to do some work with the weights. I'm sore, but happy. All total, cardio plus weights, I worked out for 50 minutes! I couldn't believe it when I looked at the clock! I was late coming back from lunch, but I didn't care! Of course, now I'm sore. I need to work with someone on coming up with a circuit for me to do on the weight machines and free weights. I was kinda random today, but I feel great! I could seriously see this exercise thing being addictive. It is fun! and I NEVER thought I would be saying that about exercise!

BTW, Chuck, you're 19. I'm 36.99999. I'll be 37 tomorrow. Plus, what was your starting weight? My current weight after losing 78 lbs. is more than a lot of the starting weights around here. For me, 30 minutes of cardio is good. Heck, for me, any movement is good compared to what I was doing!

Default Go Sister!

I am SOOOOO proud of you. You tell your nutritionist to strap an extra 150 pounds onto her back and do an hour a day! (Is she an exercise physiologist too? What a jerk) You are working it HARD! And believe me, when you lose the weight you will look down at your legs and say, "Where did all these muscles come from?"

Do make an appointment with a personal trainer for a good circuit though - you can hurt yourself if you don't know what you're doing. I went in to my trainer weighing 288 and he's been with me every step of the way - don't know what I'd do without him!!

But more than all this - you know you have made the biggest change in your life - the change that will reclaim your health and vitality. You will feel strong and look strong and BE strong, inside and out. You are taking charge and I know it feels great! You deserve it!! Way to GO!! (Gina does impromptu butt-shaking dance around computer chair in your honor)
