Question Question of the week 9/14/04

Here we go on the third week... two thumbs way up to those of you who take the time to answer. Hearing everyones responses is fun! Now here's your question;

What will you regret not doing in your life if you continue as you are now?

here's another just for grins..... Why are manholes round?

Talk to you later friends.

My instinctive answer is absolutely nothing, but on further thinking I would regret not having this surgery 15 years ago!

Bridget,

That question sucks.. cause I think I am doing everything right.. I love ya girl..

If I were to continue doing what I am doing now.. I guess my only regret would be if I stopped continuing to do what I am doing now.. then I would fall back into a bad category and I don't want that.

Manholes are round because: Manholes, which interconnect underground sewerage pipes, and serve as a point of entry for cleaning the pipes, are located at every major sewer pipe junction, and are capped with round manhole covers. The reason for the circular construction of these covers is, quite simply, that covers of any other shape would fall through the manholes by virtue of their varying diameters. Circular manhole covers do not vary in width, or in diameter, as is the case with these other shapes, thus remaining in place despite the street traffic running roughshod over them.

Manufacturers craft the manhole covers together with the smaller sized lip, upon which they rest, at the same time to ensure a tightly sealed fit. Additionally, the manufacture of circular manhole covers is easier and more accurate than the manufacture of covers of any other shape. Lastly, round manhole covers, once removed, require less lifting and less manpower, as their shape allows them to be rolled.

Lightbulb Easy One

Bridget,

This is a no-brainer...going to college. One of the few things in life I have regretted and will continue to regret is that I didn't go to college and reach my career potential. I came from a family of blue collar workers (stepfather was enlisted military, mother was waitress and restaurant manager). In the 70's, there was absolutely no encouragement in high school from my counselor or at home from my family to go to college. So, I didn't. My career has been various secretarial, administrative, and mid-management positions (I did go to vocational college on a one-year scholarship to be a legal secretary). And...I've been working for more than 31 years and I just turned 48!

In any event, I'm too old to go back to school now and I don't even WANT to go back to school! My husband is retiring at the end of this month and my goal is to work two more years and retire with him.

Oh, to have had hindsight!

One good thing has evolved, however--you can bet that my daughter is in college!

Cool My 2 cents

If I continue on as I do now I will regret.... not saving money. After I got sick after surgery my savings was depleted, so I really need to focus on stashing matrress money.

Christina, about manholes, did you look that up on the internet? I thought that was way they were round, so they couldnt fall through... can you believe that question was asked of me on an interview... so for fun I thought I would throw that one out there! Im sorry about Sunday, I totally forgot about the event til I droove passed the hotel this morning... forgive me?

Bridget,

Don't worry about Sunday I totally forgot about it too. Besides now I have to work Friday and Saturday nights so that hopefully one day I will have benefits. I have been posting my resume everywhere and applying for every imaginable job available and no luck so far.. grrrr

Anyway, about the manhole covers.. I already knew that from when I was in Boston we went on a tour and they gave us that useless information.. but I did look it up anyway to make sure my answer was right..

Default Hummmm.....

I just might regret not having more children, or at least becoming a Foster Parent. ( I just love kids )

I also might regret not chasing my dream to become a Registered Nurse working in the Labor & Delivery Ward. ( Again, I love kids )
