Thumbs up Read this in a magazine

There were a bunch of sayings in this magazine I was reading. I wanted to share this one with all of you.

It said:

"Hey, it's OK....to quit worrying about the last five pounds, No other human knows they exist."

I thought this was interesting and hits close to home. It isn't about the numbers, it is how one feels. When I feel a few pounds, no one notices, but me.

I also read that there were 5 people who all weighed 135 and they all appeared different. Two of them looked bigger than the others. They were all different in height. It was very interesting to see how the 5 people carried their weight differently. I do know that people see me as much lighter than my current weight...they say "you must weigh 90 pounds"..."size 5..no way, you must wear kids clothes." Perception...perception. We all see everything differently.

I read that same article at the doc's office the other day! I was shocked at how different 135 could look. I get that all the time-"Are you a size 3?" I might be able to fit one leg in a size 3 on a good day! I really don't see myself as being that thin, but everyone else sure does!

I totally believe the article. I was at my docs office last week and meet a someone who told me she was at 140lbs and used a size 6. I was amazed because she looked like she was a size 10. I remember being at 120lb(over 15 years ago) and wearing a size 5. At 135, I wore a size 7. Go figure.

Interesting. I have been trying to imagine what I will look like 100+ lbs lighter. I haven't weighed that since I was in high school. I have to make sure I don't picture myself 16 years old again. I think I was a size 16-18 when I was about 180lbs....on the other hand I remember wearing a size 22 when I was 250lbs. Those two numbers don't make sense when you look at them together. So, I guess I will see when I get there. Its so true, each persons body is made so different that I can see 3 women weighing the same, wearnign 3 difference sizes!

Another thing is when I lost 100 pounds, I didn't see myself that small. It took a long time for my brain to catch up to what I saw in the mirror. Currently, I see a very bony person and I see myself looking very sickly. It took me a long time to notice this. I do however, still see my calves as being rather large. My Dad tells me, no matter how skinny I get, my calves will always be out of proportion to the rest of my body.. Niice, huh

I KNOW its true. My sister in law is struggling with her weight just recently. She's always been thick, but in a good looking way and she's like 5'2" We were talking the other day about clothes and she asked me if I had any big clothes she could have. I so laughed and told her my cloths now would fall off of her and she asked what I wore. I told her 6 and she said she was in 14s. NO WAY could this itty bitty girl wear 14s!!! I didn't ask her weight, but I'm sure curious now. Here I am at 5'9" feeling like the jolly green giant around her and she's TWICE my size. WISH I could carry it that well.

Me and the hubby were having a good chat about how different one person could look at the same weight as another but look totally different. I think sometimes race and age play a big part as to why that is so. Very intresting topic. Do you remember what magazine it was in?

Glamour Magazine Feb 2006 pg 77. The title says Health and bodybook. Why weight Doesn't Matter.

5 glamour readers are tthe subjects
Karla 5'5"
Lisa 5'5"
Lisa 5'8"
Kim 5'2"
Saryn 5'3"

All weigh 135 pounds, but "their body shapes are markedly different." as quoted in Glamour.
