I just think it's great that you support her like that. The suicide rate for gay teens is alarmingly high, and I think if they were loved and accepted that would change. It says something of her character that she feels she can boldly be who she is rather than what the world would like her to be.

I was checking who was online and reading what when a visitor was reading this thread. Now that a long time has elapsed, a) did you tell your husband, b) was he supportive of your daughter, c) is it a decision she has stuck with or d) a phase and finally e) are you all able to cope?
Just wondering the outcome - my neighbour has a similar situation with her 23 year old daugther but has not told her family about it - and I always wonder what reactions and support they are likely to receive. My neighbour has been gay for 5 years now and has a really nice bunch of "girlfriends".
