Things have seemed to be a bit tense around here for the last week or so. I hate to see people leave, but they are adults and I can't force them to be here if they don't wanna. Hopefully, things will improve with the holidays approaching! I love the different opinions too. If we all felt the same way about everything it would be rather dull around here. However, I hate to see things get out of hand and people get hurt or be hurtful. It's gonna happen and that's that.

Yes, this has happened before and I can say it happened to me because I wrote something about Duodenal Switches...info. that I heard at seminars and someone took what I said the wrong way. It sure stirred up the forum and made me feel very bad.

You're going to laugh at this one, but I am on and off a part of a dog forum, where all of us with this certain special breed of dog discussed our "dog issues". People there are always getting bent out of shape and declaring they are leaving the forum. I always think, "Aren't we talking about dogs? When did this become about you??" Most come back in a couple months. It is silly to me, but important to the person who is upset, I am sure.
It is the nature of we humans to get our feathers ruffled and to ruffle others without even meaning to. Forgive, forget and learn better communication.
For those of you who are lost, I read the whole interchange and I am still lost!

I've said it before and I'm saying it again, dammit! We're like brothers and sisters here. We argue, we disagree, but we stick together. Good, bad, or ugly, it's us against the world.
I'd like to KILL my real brother sometimes, but, damn, he's my brother and I just gotta kiss, make up, and love him. Gotta agree to disagree and let it roll off your back.
So, dammit, I may hate yo ass for a little while, but I STILL LOVE YOU.

It's common on any forum....I also frequent one about fish, and even about plumbing! Flame wars are always around. The bigger the forum, the more varying opinions abound. Part of the growing pains. You should check out IRC. Talk about nasty, cut-throat dialogue! Even in the Christian chats....oh...you get going about religion. You even get a few people who lurk and only post things just to inflame the topic.

Well, you know what they say about how dogs look like their owners, or is it the other way around

I belong to a private mothers group, the board is closed (no outside access and new members have to request being allowed in) and we have known eachother for more than 4 years and I can still manage to ruffle feathers there unintentionally. It happens. This board is never going to be only about WLS because ther are people behind the posts with personalities, opinions and interest beyond the surgery who want to share. I don't want to only love the part of a person that had WLS, I want to love every part of them. I honestly can't figure how peoples relationships work in real life if they are so ready to drop the ones here so quickly that really don't require too much effort. We are pretty universal in doling out the love.......
