Default So Frustrated!!!

I am so, so frustrated right now...I had my first appointment with my surgeon three weeks ago, and she informed me that I must lose 10 pounds before she will operate. Well, yesterday I went in for my pre-surgical testing, and I've gained 12 pounds in three weeks!!!! I swear I haven't been eating that bad - I've been eating much better than I have in months! My husband couldn't believe it either. But the scales don't lie. Somehow I have gained all that weight, and now I'm wondering if my surgeon will want me to lose 22 pounds before she'll operate!
The emotional stuff I've been dealing with has been hard enough without the stress of this recent weight gain. I've started the stupid Slim Fast diet just to drop as much as possible before I see my surgeon again. After all the hard work I've done to get this far, I would be devastated to have my surgery delayed over this. But now I definitely have the motivation to stick with the Slim Fast diet for a little while, even if I'm STARVING all the time!
I guess I'm not looking for any advice or anything, I just wanted to vent my frustration a little.

I am sorry about your frustration. I know they want you to lose the weight to shrink the liver, but I find it lame to have to lose weight to have a surgery that helps you lose weight....did that make sense?

From past dieting experiences, I would suggest you do the Phase 1 of South Beach. You can lose a lot of water/insulin holding weight in a week or two. Good luck hon!

Ansley it is alway good to vent. It is ok let it out girlfriend. Sweety stick to your SlimFast diet plan and see it through so you can make it to the other side. I know this is going to sound silly but maybe it was meant for you to gain them pounds to encourage you and give you the motivation to fight back and get that weight off before the big day. Keep all that you type in your post in mind and think about standing on the losing side. I can't wait to see you there.

Thanks, everyone!!! I do feel better after a couple of days of sticking to the diet. Hopefully I'll lose enough of this recent weight gain to keep my surgeon from postponing my surgery.
I can't wait to NOT be hungry for a while. It sucks to drive past the bright, inviting fast food signs, and look at that leftover Halloween candy at work. I know I'll miss all of that after the surgery too, but right now I'm so STARVING that I salivate at every restaurant I pass! But I'm in control of my diet, and that's a good feeling. So it's not all bad.

Ansley,

Hang in there my dear. Glad you're sticking to the diet and just know that we've all been there!

Ansley,

I have a great niece named Ainsley, I wonder if it is pronounced the same? Good job on the diet. Just try to remember that the hunger is temporary. Once you have the surgery limiting because so much easier. For quite awhile you struggle and work......yes, WORK, to eat or drink enough. You'll get there........just keep hanging on!

You can do this! i know you can! Do you have any trouble with fluid retention? That's seems like a lot to gain in a short amount of time unless you are retaining some water. I'm not a big fan of water pills but maybe you could try it for a couple days and see if that doesn't help a bit. Look at your feet and ankles and see if there is any swelling. I had a bunch pre op and had never noticed it. I absolutely loath the Atkins diet BUT as we all know, it works really well, really quick, for the short term so that may be a good solution. Then you don't have to be hungry or feel too deprived. Just a couple suggestions. Let us know how things are going for you!
