having a really bad day
A really bad couple of weeks, really. I guess I just wanna whine. I feel kind of bad because I do realize other people have worse problems. Geez, I've had worse problems in my life. But not lately.
To begin with, my car is messed up. We can't figure out what's wrong with it but I suspect it's the transmission which of course is gonna cost a fortune to fix. And of course I do not have a fortune. My car is old and not in great shape anyway and it would really make more sense just to get rid of it and get a new car but of course I can't afford that. And my credit sucks so I can't get a loan for a car.
My laptop computer is dead. Dead. Luckily I have a desktop but I don't like it as much and it's not very convenient. I work at home on the computer, so I really am thankful I have the desktop. But I can't take it places. Like, next week Mike has to go out of town for his job and I was going to go with him. But now I guess I'm not because I can't take my computer with me and I'd be bored stuck in the hotel room all day while he's in training without my computer, plus I can't really afford to take three days off work. So now I have to stay home by myself.
Today, my printer started having problems. It prints, but there are lines through the print. I've tried cleaning the ink jet thingies and it's not helping. Mike says I probably just need a new printer. Yeah, well, that's down near the bottom of the list of things I need to spend money on right now.
While I was cooking dinner tonight, I fell through a hole in the kitchen floor. Yeah. Seriously. We live in this old mobile home. We have soft spots in the floor where the wood is rotting. Apparently when they built this thing they used really cheap wood. Part of our floor is actually particle board. We ripped up the bedroom floor and rebuilt it last year but haven't done the kitchen or living room yet.
So I was making dinner and apparently not paying attention and stepped on this soft spot. And my foot went right through the kitchen floor! And got stuck. I couldn't get my foot out of this hole. I finally just yanked REALLY hard and it came out, but ripped a big chunk of skin off the side of my foot. I am sure my ankle is not broken but I suspect it's sprained. It's swollen and it really hurts. And now there is a big hole in the middle of my kitchen floor.
And now I'm all kinds of grumpy.
Kelly

Oh Kelly.
I'm sorry sweetheart. All I can offer is a cyber hug.
I hope you're resting your ankle - putting ice on it?

Man, that just sucks. (((Kelly)))
What's your car doing? Maybe I can give you some ideas on what's going on with it.

Kind of grumpy? I'd be in a really dark mood by now with all of that.
Hope things start looking up.

My car... sometimes it runs just fine. But sometimes it will not shift out of second gear. It's an automatic, not a manual. When it's doing the thing where it will not shift, if I go over about 20 miles per hour, it starts to, like, jerk. I took it to the garage and the mechanic drove it and it was doing these things. So he hooked it up to that computer thing that is supposed to give you a diagnostic code to tell you what's wrong with it. Know what I mean? Only it produced no codes. So the mechanic drove it again. Only then it ran just fine. He drove it a couple more times that day and it wouldn't do it again, so I picked it up that night and drove it home and it ran fine.
The next day I drove it and it did it again. So that night I took it back to the garage. It drove fine all the way there. The next day the mechanic drove it three times and it drove fine. So I picked it up and drove it home again. I drove it yesterday and it ran fine. But I am sure it will do it again sometime.
The mechanic said it might be a valve in the transmission, but he's not sure. He said to drive it straight there the next time it acts up and he'll look at it right away.

Yeah. I actually am in a really dark place. Apparently I don't deal with stress very well. I have major depression and it has been doing pretty good lately but not the last couple weeks.

Wow, Kelly. I don't have any solutions for you, but I sure do hope things get better. Foot going through the kitchen floor would have been the absolute last straw for me. Take one hurdle at a time. Put a piece of pressboard over the hole. Problem solved for now. I would focus all my efforts on the car after that...hope that you find a CHEAP solution.
Good luck, and try to keep your spirits up. We are pulling for you.

It sounds like you could use a mental health break. If Mike hasnt already left on his biz trip, why dont you find out if the hotel has a business center/public computer available? You could be there and work. Or find out if the hotel is near any public spot like a library which would have computers available. Just a thought. Sorry things stink right now. You have the right to shed a few overwhelmed tears. Hang in there. Something will give. It has to...

I just want to tell you how sorry I am that things are going so rough for you. I've been in situations in my lifetime that caused me great concern..........but I did get through them (although at the time I sure didn't think I would). Know that you're in my thoughts and prayers.
