Default Waiting on surgery date

I was approved this week form my insurance, Humana, however I am scheduled to go in for office visit on 11/12 to get 2 wk liquid diet and a surgery date. I am shooting for late November/early Dec. date. I need to have by the end of year per Humana. I am very nervous about the surgery. I have researched the subject and been visiting his site since Sept.2009, when I started my journey. Everything has happened very quick for me! I am very excited and realize this is going to be hard and it is a tool for weight lose and a life time change. I am having family and friends for Thanksgiving dinner. However I have choosen to not tell everyone in Family about surgery, so I am wondering how i am going to pull off not eating that day. I am wondering if I could eat very little that day and just add one more day to my diet? Any advise? I have my reasons for not telling family until after the fact. I orginally thought it would happen after January so I would not have to worry about Thanksgiving. Help!

I don't know what to tell you about Thanksgiving dinner. I would not eat something that day and then add on another day of liquids unless your doctor tells you it's OK to do that. I think it is important to follow the diet your doctor gives you. But you could ask if that would be acceptable. Otherwise, maybe you could say your stomach is upset and you're just going to have some broth? I suspect they will be likely to bug you about eating, even if your doc does give you the OK to eat a little. They will want you to eat a lot, and to eat pumpkin pie, and all that stuff.

i have thought about Thanksgiving too. I plan to just tell people I have been snacking all day so I don't want to over do it. They don't need to know more than that, right?
