I can relate. This year I've lost two of my closest co-worker friends. We did lunch every day and spent countless hours talking. However, I've found them both to become very distant as I lost weight. (I'm six years out from surgery, but I worked really hard over the past year to loose more weight prior to having my tummy tuck.) Anywho, together we talked about loosing weight all the time, and walked in the evenings together. Everything was good as long as I was the biggest one in the group. But, once I had my tummy tuck, I was the smallest. (152 pounds) As my self-esteem improved I started to dress more sexy and have more confidence. The attention was no longer on the skinnier chic. So, to make a long story short, I got tired of being insulted every day about any little thing. (Your skirt is pretty, but those shoes don't match, for example.) So, I completely stop speaking to them. It's been almost a year, and it works for me! You are going to loose even more friends. People become envy. It's sad but true. So let the hat'n begin my friend. Focus on doing well on your journey and know that these are not your friends. Just people you work with every day. I had to separate the two and realize they weren't that important to me. Sorry to ramble. It ain't easy once you bring sexy back! I'd hate me too. (Totally joking)

I hadn't thought about the hormones thing. I need to mention that to my mom since she's the best at telling when things are wrong. That way she'll know it could just be hormonal and there's nothing I can do about it, etc etc.

Well, only 3 more hours to go! LOL. Then if I need to go home and cry I can. I bought a new Wii DVD that Pilates. I think I will try it tonight and see if doing something new gives me a different outlook.
Rae, I'm so glad at how you handled this -- a whole lot more like an adult than the petty woman in your office!

I know what you mean about questioning if you are doing this right. I went to the office supply store for a small, fit in my purse or pocket, sized notebook to write down what I eat and drink, what exercise and activity I do and anything else related to this.

I've only lost a couple of pounds since leaving the hospital -- yeah, I'm just a little more than a week out -- but I seem to be doing everything right and still not losing -- YET. I assume it will come, but I worry.

Anyhow, I admire how you handled today. You are definitely doing something right!

I keep wondering how you are doing Laureate but was waiting for you to post. Don't worry, one week is early - you are swollen and healing - the loss will being soon. You'll see - I thought the same thing when I had my surgery - I was sure they just cut me open and sewed me up without doing the surgery - I was certain is was a head game. Wait a few more weeks and you should begin to see the weight drop off.

Rhonda, thanks! I needed that today. It just seems impossible that with all my activity & eating and drinking right, I haven't dropped 5-10 pounds! That's why I bought the notebook -- just to doublecheck myself. But it will be good to have later, too, when I really have more freedom in my diet than protein shakes!

Otherwise, I have done so well. No nausea, everything goes and stays down and I feel good. I just feel like someone played a mighty cruel joke on me.

But I'll trust what you say. And thanks again!

I had to reply to this post. I hate bitches like that! They are so mean. You didn't follow her advice and not have the surgery - like it was up to her or was even her business in the first place!! She thinks she is 'punishing' you.
I liked the idea of buying yourself a candle but thought better of it. Something else...bring something new and different and cool to your cube that she doesn't have. How about a little bouquet of fake flowers? You don't have to talk about it - she will see it. It's a reward to and for you that you've taken a positive step toward good health. Your way better than she is. She is small minded and mean

Now for your sister. Please speak to her and let her know how you feel. If you would like to keep on the down low for a while I would hope she would support you in that. You have enough to worry about without worrying what your sister may or may not say. Maybe she is proud of you and bragging! Just ask her to cool it a bit. I'm sure she will understand.

Do something especially nice for yourself. Give yourself a facial, get your nails done or walk the mall and window shop or even make a list of positive things that happened to you today, no negatives, only positives.

Hang in there babe, your doing a fantastic job and will be successful in your journey.

Default Thank you for everything!

I wasn't able to access a computer after work so I didn't see all the nice things that had been written till this morning. I appreciate your thoughts and kind words!

No Wii, last night, I just felt crummy. Michael suggested hanging at his apartment last night, made me dinner, and then I literally passed out on him while watching tv! I fell asleep about 7:15, woke up to move to the bed, then slept till 6:15 this morning!! I NEVER do that so I'm guessing my body just needed some rest. There has been alot of stress in my life recently which has caused tummy troubles (believe your docs when they say avoid stress after surgery!) so maybe a good night of rest was what I needed. I do feel better today and am ready to take on the world! LOL

I'm not a petty person and I'm not good at 'getting back' at someone. I used to think it was something I did and obsess over it till it drove me crazy but for the first time, I was just angry! I felt what she did was wrong and not really my fault.

I did go buy a little something for my cubicle last night after work though! It's one of the new scent fans that Bath and Body Works has and I bought a couple different scent oils.

Today is going to be a better day, I just know it! Thanks to everyone for your thoughts on this. You guys are awesome!!

Laureate, the weight will come off, the hardest part is not weighing yourself daily!! Hang in there and writing everything down is a great idea!!

Hi, I'm so glad you got a well-deserved rest. This surgery takes a while to really get over - I'm still having an afternoon nap now and then and I'm 5 months out!!! Rest is so important to healing - and being sleep deprived can cause you all sorts of emotional problems. I'm happy that you bought yourself a little somepin, somepin for your cubicle to treat yourself. I bought myself a new watch because it was "a new time in my life", and it was 1/2 price!!!! Have a really wonderful day and just "rise above" all the B.S. Stress can kill - so steer clear of it!

Oh trust me, it's not really stress in my life but stress with my mom and sister's lives that is affecting me. I know how damaging it can be though now with our new tummies!! I don't want to go into details really but essentially my sister is divorcing after 16 years of marriage and my mom is FINALLY settling my stepdad's estate after 3 years of arguing with my stepsister and it has taken a toll on all of us. I'm hoping for peace in both their lives and mine now. We were a close family so this has been hard on all of us.

That's cool about the watch, I like that sentiment! Thank you for your info on resting, etc. I can say it's taken more than I thought it would to recover from surgery but I have a good support system that tries to remind me what is needed... now only if I'd listen all the time!

Have a great day Highland!
