Unhappy Oh the pain...

This is the second time I've had this happen...gas pains. Crippling, excruciating, brings tears to my eyes, double over and gasping pain. Last time I had to have my husband come and get me as the pain was so bad I couldn't work or drive. It lasted about 4 hours. I spoke to the doctor and they told me to wait it out. I've never had anything like this before. I don't know what's causing it. I wake up in the morning not feeling "right" and within an hour it starts. I haven't had anything to eat or drink since the night. Anyone else have this issue? Any suggestions as to what I can do?

Oh, it must be so uncomfortable. Fortunately for me I haven`t yet experienced such excrutiating pain but from what I`ve read from others, it happens and will pass in time. So as your Dr. has already advised, I guess you will have to sit it out. Easier said than done though. Speedy recovery from this spell. Best wishes to you.

I know this will probably sound dumb but have you tried Gas Ex or Mylanta Gas Ex? they are both chewable, approved by the doctor and should work fairly quickly. I woke up yesterday similar to you and I took Mylanta chewables and it helped within a few moments.

I hope that helps.

I would call the doctor and explain how concerned you are. I know people get gas and especially excrutiating gas after surgery but you are 3 mos out and this isn't from the surgery. Just put in a call to the doc and tell him how bad the pain is and you'd like it checked out.

I'm sorry this happens to you and I hope they get to the bottom of it. Feel Better.

Ditto to both posts. It will (should) pass in time. Try the gas ex or mylanta. Try walking. and call ur doc to make sure there arent potential problems going on...

I NEVER experienced 'gas pains' until after my surgery....I thought something was seriously wrong (I was convinced something 'ruptured')... I was told to take Gas X...

Thanks everyone. My doctor didn't want me to take Gas-X or anything else unless it was absolutly necessary. So I waited it out and it finally subsiding to tolerable in a few hours and went away entirely in 6 hours. I have since spoken with him and he's agreeed that should it happen again, Gas-X (only 1) is OK. I also have to keep a food diary and keep track of the situationto see if this may be something more serious. He's thinking not but we both want to be sure.

Don't want to get too personal, but have you been having good bowel movements. I had pain like that back about 2 weeks and realized I hadn't, and had to take a laxative to help things along (if you know what I mean). Either too hard or too soft is not right, so perhaps it could be the poops????
