Red face Any Christian's feel guilty for having surgery?

I just posted this question but it didn't show up so here it is again...

I can't help but to feel guilty every time I go to church. I am a good person and my weight shouldn't matter. At least that is how I feel when I am in church and some other times. Did anyone else have this problem? I know God want's me to take care of my body so that helps.

I'm not sure I understand why you feel guilty. Are you saying you think your weight shouldn't matter so you feel guilty for wanting to have surgery to lose weight? If so, I have to ask why exactly you are having surgery. Because while most of us probably want to be thin, too, most people also have surgery to be healthy. And your health does matter. And should matter. Maybe it's vain to want to be thin, if that's what you're thinking, I don't know. But I don't it's vain to want to be healthy.

If God, Jesus, and all things Christlike did not want you to have surgery and become a healthier human being, do you really think he would have given surgeons the knowledge and know how to give us this gift of surgery?

Nothing wrong with taking a second chance at living life in my book.

Yes, I am saying I feel guilty for wanting to lose weight. I am completly healthy except for my weight. I have gained 100lbs in 10yrs. I also have tried in those 10yrs to lose the weight but have only managed to gain weight. I am only 26 but the way it has been going I know I am down a road to all the obesity health related problems. Plus I do not want my son to grow up and become obese b/c of me.

Agreed, 100%.

If I were religious, I'd consider my surgery a gift from God himself.

Why would you feel guilty about having this surgery? Is there something in the bible that states you cannot alter your image in any way? I'm not quite sure how your faith and the way you look have anything to do with eachother.

You are healthy now... but you understand that you probably will not stay healthy if you don't lose weight, right? And you want to be a good role model for your son. Why would you feel guilty about those things? Don't you think God wants you to be healthy and raise a healthy son?

There is a poster here.. I believe he is Christian.. he's a Pastor/Minister or whatever his religion uses for a title. His nickname is Bama..

(Sorry, Bama.. I don't recall your title/religion - forgive me please )

You might want to seek him out, in case he misses this thread. He seems to be happy with his decision to have his surgery. Good luck.
