Default Just Had My Psych Evaluation

Hi all!

I am new to the site and just wanted to see if my psych evaluation was out of the norm.

I was in the office for literally 15 minutes for my psych evaluation. Is this normal? I thought for sure I was going to be in there for at least an hour. After the session the doc told me he would send a favorable report to my surgeon. I really thought there would be more to it, but it was just so painless.

Great, maybe the whole rest of the pre-op stuff will be just as painless and the surgery as well. A favourable report is what you want so good. You should be hearing from your surgeon soon I suspect. Hold on tight, you're in for the ride of your life!!!!

You'll be billed for the hour no matter how long it took! LOL

I have heard a few people say theirs only took 15 minutes, but I think it usually takes at least an hour. I think it's pretty ridiculous for them to just spend 15 minutes with you. I mean, how are they supposed to evaluate anything in that little time? And yeah, I would check your bill and make sure you are only being billed for 15 minutes, not a whole hour. And make sure they are not billing your insurance company for a whole hour.

I had my 2-hour psych eval yesterday. The doc called today to tell me everything is a go and I passed with flying colors. Guess it was a good thing I didn't tell them about those little voices in my head and the pink elephants that follow me around ()

The voices and pink elephants will disappear after the surgery (well....maybe)
Glad you passed with flying colors. Was it relatively painless?
Take care!

My doc actually asked me if I heard voices in my head.

Kantonucci...they really did ask me that too. Several times, in different ways - probably to see if they could trip me up. They also asked me if I loved my father, loved my mother, and would I ever paint pictures of flowers.

Highlandlass...the whole thing was a joke as far as I was concerned. But, being that it's part of the process, I went along with it. It wasn't painless, eye-opening, or otherwise. It was just 2 hours that had to be endured.

I admit, I worried about it ahead of time, wondering if they'd misinterpret something I said and then have a whole flood of whatever come out and prevent the surgery (Yes, they ask about paranoia too LOL). It's over. I'm glad.

Txhunni - I kept thinking he was trying to trip me up too. Asked if there were any history of abuse. If I saw things that weren't there. I told him only when I'm tripping on acid. LOL! (I'm just kidding).

I was so happy that it was over in 15 minutes. This is a doc that my surgeon sends all of his pre-op patient to, so I figured I'd be good.
