Honestly, its hard to believe that these professionals use the time to fluff theirselves up. I bet they get about $120/hr (Cdn). That is what I had to pay, out of pocket, when I was seeing the psycho-therapist about 4 yrs ago. At least he kept on topic (all about me) and that's what I was paying for. Its a real rip-off and a waste of good time and energy to sit there listening to a stranger go on about his/herself - especially when you don't really care It really borders on being criminal!

I guess this has risen to the top of my pet peave list (for now).

No wonder insurance is expensive paying these folk to massage their own egos.
Here I was at the beginning of this thread defending the psych evaluations but now I've read more and understand a bit more and am doing an about face on this subject. I'm happy I didn't have to go through an experience like that. There must be a governing body that people can use to voice their concerns on this. The insurance companies should be told what they are paying for. Its almost criminal!!!! And, yes, my red-headed, Scottish temper is flaring and my blood is boiling too.
There is a governing body. Assuming you are seeing a licensed professional, there is a licensing board that you can file a complaint with. I would also notify the insurance company if the person doing the evaluation isn't really doing an evaluation but is just talking about himself instead.
