Don't panic! And don't be afraid to come here. I am sorry you are having trouble.
What do you eat in a typical day? And how many calories, and how many grams of protein? How many ounces of liquids are you getting per day?
Kelly

It is SO good that you're reaching out! Glad you have done so.. we'll help you any way we can, okay?
The questions Kelly's asked are really important.
And you *might* be shocked to find out the reason you're NOT losing is because you're not eating ENOUGH of the things your body needs. Or drinking enough.
So, lay it out on the line.. and we can work through this together.
if you're not sure how much you're eating or drinking.. maybe take a few days to log it somewhere like Calorie Counter, Diet Tracking, Food Journal, Nutrition Facts at The Daily Plate .. you can log your food & water intake.. ignore the totals of everything but the grams of protein and the amount of fluid for now.. those are the two things we need to key on at the moment.

Welcome back! The two Kellys (Kelly and Kel ) have said much of what I would have said, so I will just add that it's never too late to turn this situation into a success - do not give up hope! There are many people here who understand what you're going through, and have much support and good information to offer - keep reading and posting!

Thanks all, feels so good to have got it down in writing - kind of like I have admitted it to myself and the world at last! I will do what you have suggested as in monitor my food and water intake over the next few days with emphasis on protein. Generally my diet is all over the place - today for instance I have had -
Breakfast
2 slices of bread with low fat spread
Lunch
Small babybel cheese, smallest tub of Philidelphia light soft cheese, 3 slices of thin sliced ham, 4 cherry tomatoes, four wholemeal crackers, some raspberries and blueberries
Dinner
Inside of small steak and ale pie (tiny amount of pastry) with baked beans, then half a scone and low fat spread.
A Fruit pastilles iced lolly.
Supper - packet of crisps
Drink wise..7 cups of tea, probably around 20 minutes following food.
Is there hope??

Sweetie.. there is always hope as long as you are reaching out and watching what you're doing.
First.. I know the UK has different diet plans. (Are you an Roux-en-Y person, a bandster or Sleeve?) It will make a bit of a difference.
Second- you might want to focus on proteins and get rid of the useless carbs- like the bread- waste of space- no nutrients! And the lolly? pastries? you really need to replace those with healthy proteins.
Can you get a high protein greek yogurt? Maybe choose that for a breakfast option?
Look over beths food plans from her surgeon found here:
My surgeon's food plan - ThinnerTimes - Gastric Bypass and Lap BandŽ Forum
And are you stopping drinking 1/2 hour before, during and 1/2 hour after eating? If you're not, maybe you need to give that a try too?
So glad you're feeling less alone and more positive.. that's awesome

Yes, there is definitely hope! BUT - I'm seeing a lot of simple carbohydrates in your intake and not nearly enough protein. My suggestions: ditch the bread, crackers, scones, lollies, and crisps. Keep the healthy carbs such as cherry tomatoes, raspberries, and blueberries, however - as long as you're getting in enough protein first (water and protein first, then veggies, then fruits should be the order of priority). Get in more lean proteins (fish, chicken breast, turkey breast) and stop drinking tea, which can be a diuretic - drink water instead. There is hope, but there are changes that will help tremendously!

Hugs honey. It can't be easy. I would say that I think the advise they you have been given here will help you. The people here know their stuff let me tell you. Cut out the bread, the potatoes. Don't eat any fatty meat (even seemingly harmless cold cuts like Salami are full of fat.) The water is so essential keep a liter with you everywhere you go. I walk with a bottle everywhere, honestly and I take small sips constantly. Please start exercising, just stroll around your neighborhood for 20 minutes. You will be great. Don't lose hope.

The girls have given you great advise. It's those carbs that are hurting you. I know you said you did the pouch test before, but maybe doing it with a group of others will help keep you focused. They're doing one next week starting Monday. I bet you getting thru the pouch test and resetting your pouch back to normal is exactly what you need!
Group 5 Day Pouch Test Starting 10/12/09

I would try reducing the carbs. Try eggs or yogurt for breakfast. If you really like toast, cut it back to one slice or just half a slice and have some yogurt or something with it. Leave out the crackers at lunch. Definitely skip the half a scone and the crisps. I will admit that I eat toast almost every day for breakfast. One slice. And I have a slice of cheese with it. I like it. Yes, it's carbs. But often that's the only starch I eat all day. And I am satisfied with the rate at which I'm losing. Anyway...
You might also want to try increasing your protein. Which you could do pretty easily if you had yogurt or eggs or something like that for breakfast. I don't know what brands of food you ate or how much meat was in your dinner, so I can't really calculate your protein grams for you. But I encourage you to calculate them. I'm gonna guess you got maybe 60 grams, which is OK. But increasing it might help with your weight loss. About a month ago, I increased my protein from about 60 grams to more like 80 grams. I had been losing about two pounds a week. Since increasing it, I have been losing about three pounds a week. Same calories, just more protein.
Kelly
