Default Bad day today!

Hello everyone

Today is my 1 month post op anniversary. I have lost 30lbs so far and I feel great otherwise. Today I just woke up feeling so depressed and I haven't been able to stop myself from crying. I have never been like this. I can't attribute the depressed feelings to any particular event or train of thoughts. I just feel low and so alone in the world. I feel as though the fat can't come off fast enough. Its like I am dead and I waiting to live again. Is this normal? Is it something to do with the change in lifestyle. Why do I feel so low today?

Hormones are stored in fat cells. As you lose weight, these hormones are released into your body. You've lost 12% of your entire body weight (21% of how much you want to lose!) in just ONE MONTH! Your body is so full of hormones you wouldn't believe it. Just know that it's normal, it will pass, and you're doing amazing!!

Oh sweetie ~*~hugs~*~

For a long time now our bodies have been storing hormones in our fat. Now that we are losing said fat the hormones are running amuk. This is perfectly normal and something that everyone losing weight goes through in one degree or another. Understand that these points are going to come up and don't be afraid of them. As the amazing Beth told me to do write your WOW moments on a card and keep it handy. When your feelin low you can look at that card and remember the WOW.

What she said! Its like one long, drawn out PMS- some of the worst pms ever!

And hon.. the thing is.. you're mourning a bit, too. You're mourning the loss of a friend that got you through tough times (at least if you're like most of us!).. that friend being food, that we turned to in times of needing comfort and times of joy. It is a huge change but just keep moving forward and you'll get through this in no time.

And remember- you're never alone as you have us!

Wow....I totally forgot the mourning period. That explains a lot of the funk I get in. Espically since it really hits on the weekend.

A lot of it is probably the hormones. Drink a lot of water and get some exercise. It will help flush stuff out. Also, exercise causes the release of endorphins, which are "happy chemicals" in your brain. Plus, exercising will help you lose weight faster. Geez, listen to me! I need to take my own advice and get some exercise, huh?!

But you are also going through big, big changes. Depression is normal. It will probably pass. If it's very hard, consider seeing a therapist to help you cope. Therapy has been a life-saver for me!

Kelly

Thanks Shetaz. I am really stunned by this information about hormones. I thought I had some deep seated stuff but I could not think of anything I have thought about or experienced lately to attribute it to. Glad to know its normal. Thanks for the tip!

Thank you mistymee. I did use food a lot and for everything, joy, pain, boredom. I understand that could be the case too. Thank you!

Thanks Kelly. I had been exercising consistently for the past two weeks and I was doing so well, walking 3 miles an hour per day on the treadmill, light weights and stretching. I didn't exercise yesterday (got too busy) and I was supposed to exercise today but was feeling so low that I just could not pick myself up. I am happy to know about the hormones thing this way I can get through it and know its not something permanent or deeper than it feels. Thanks for the advice.
