Default Forgotten???

I feel awkward even saying this. I don't want to sound like a baby. But, the R.N. at my docs office told us in seminars, meetings, and most recently at my preop appointment that she would be calling following the surgery to ask questions like what my heart rate is, blood pressure, what I ate that day, etc. But I am 5 days post op and have never heard from my docs office at all....ever...from anyone. I called them the second day just to schedule my one week follow up appointment. But other than that no one has ever called and checked up on me. The first 4 days I was frequently monitoring my heart rate, BP, food intake...waiting for the call. But, no call. Last night it finally sunk in. I started realizing that now it's the weekend and they are closed. Did they forget about me? Has anyone else been told to expect phone calls? Did anyone else not get the phone call? Silly I know, but it kinda hurts a tinsy bit to know they didn't call to check on me. Especially when I was told they had a harder time with my surgery.

Wow... my surgery isn't until the 26th and I already know my follow-up date!

I'd feel aggravated, too, that they haven't called. I do think many of these places tend to oversell their "aftercare." As always, I think you have to do a lot of staying on top of your own situation.

I hope all your self-tests have come out good and you are feeling a bit better,

I don't think anyone planned on calling us after his surgery. There was post op follow up in the hospital. Of course, with his complications, all of the 'calls' were in person for 5 days.

Your forum is here for you!

Yeah, your'e right. Tracking my food? Not much to track....water, crystal light, popsicle, jello, broth, creamy soups, protein drinks, bit of light ice cream. That's pretty much it right now. I just can't wait for my fill. I can't wait to be really restricted so I don't eat a whole cup of something before I feel only a little bit blocked. I want to feel blocked at my third bite of something to the point I have to put the spoon down and wait for the food to go down past my band before I even can take another bite! That will be awesome! That sounds so weird I bet. LOL!

I think that sounds (almost) healthy. How about 8 bites? Gotta get enough protein in that belly to keep you sustained. I'm really glad folks have come out to support you!
And yes -- tracking the food, even in these small quantities is important. It's good to see much you can get down now, and how much you can tollerate. And then after your fill, how much goes doesn and how much you can tollerate. You need to confirm you are getting enough protein in every time. I'm such a label reader now it's amazing!!

FYI: I use "fitday.com" to track my foods. I actually purchased their program some time ago for my PC (non-web-based). It's free for the web-based version!!!

Keep going! Good luck!!

I have to agree wih whoever wrote about aftercare being oversold these days. I did not expect nor did I receive follow up calls and the burden ha been on me to keep up any communication I feel is important. Glad you areover it and don't ever be afraid to call if you do have questions.
