Default Mama said there would be days like this...

I'm tired. Tired of drinking protein, tired of eating protein bars, tired of saying to others and myself "I can't eat that", tired of exercising, tired of my clothes not fitting, tired of wondering if and when my hair will fall out, tired of everyone asking me how I'm doing, tired of smiling and saying "just great" and most of all I'm tired of just pushing through it all. I'm tired.

Ok. Now I've told someone (maybe a lot of someones). Maybe it will help.

I always feel much better after a good ole vent.

You are human, allowed to be tired, frustrated, pissed, and everything else. We don't always have to be happy go lucky all the time. If it would help take the nerf bat to the fat monster in the corner. Beat em up real good. You'll feel better then.

Good luck.

I had WLS on 7/2/09 and my first thought (after OUCH) was, "My God what alot of work." Everything was a challenge because it seemed everything in my life related to my surgery. All I can say is it becomes less work and more habit after a while. Of course there will always be the "what can I eat, what cant I eat" but wasnt your life like that before WLS anyway? With all of the dieting, all of my life, I already constantly thought about every morsel of food that went into my mouth. When it wasnt that, I was consumed with, "when am I going to eat next and what is it going to be? Something good or something bad?"

This surgery is a lifetyle change and like everything else it takes time to form a habit. Make the right choices, every time and eventually they become easy to make. Not choices, per se, but habits. Take a deep breath and keep up the great work. We did this for a reason and anything worth while is worth fighting for! I wish you the best.

You've lost a staggering amount of weight in just over two mos. Are you keeping up with a nutritionist or WLS counselor? Sounds like it would be a good idea to do both, to make sure you are getting in enough nutrition to feel good and to be able to cope mentally and emotionally with the huge changes in your life. sounds like you could also take a little TLC-a day at the beach? at a spa? getting a mani/pedi? Whatever you decide, take care of you and hang in there. You can do this.

All I can say is this: it does get easier, it becomes a routine, and this is way easier than carrying around the extra 96 pounds, not being able to breathe, not being able to walk very far. As far as the clothes go........it's kind of funny, for the past 8 years I sometimes didn't have anything to wear because of the gaining, and now I'm shrinking out of clothes pretty quickly. But I'll take this anyday. We have a surprise 80th Birthday Party to go to on November 7th, and my first response was, o crap, I know nothinbg I have now will fit me then! Such a great feeling though. Also, I'm 5 months out, and I can eat a great variety of things, luckily I havent any cravings for sugar and crap yet, but there's always something I can eat. Take care, you'll see how much better things get.

this.

I totally feel you. I am tired, tired of protein drinks, tired of "sorry, can't go out to eat", tired of explaining things. But most of all, just plain ole' tired. I am not really ever able to get in all my protein, but I am trying.
