I am sad...yet encouraged!
This morning I went to have a stress test done, one of the many steps in being approved for my surgery...while there the gentleman who monitored my test started talking about how he is a licensed trainer blah, blah, blah...He made me feel like crap. I was leaving he and another girl in the office a funny joke by lying to me and saying that she had WLS, she had to be a size 4 or 6I of course was ecstatic to meet someone who was a success story of wls, "you look great" I exclaimed, then the 2 of them started laughing b/c apparently she didn't have wls surgery at all. I felt stupid at best....plus she looked appauled that he jokingly said she used to be 400 lbs. now that was insulting when there is clearly and overweight person standing before you. I almost cried on the way to the car. I am thinking that these 2 people have no idea what it is like to be morbidly obese or have an eating disorder.
...I did find solace and more confirmation in knowing that I have made the right decision. That I am doing this for me! FINALLY something for me.
Oh yeah and something else....I saw an old classmate and her Husband on the way out of the hospital, pretty sure that they were thinking "boy shes even more huge than she used to be" but guess what?!?! I smiled as I walked away knowing that next time they see me I will be feeling and looking good!

that is flat out unprofessional.
i recommend that you make a complaint to the company they work for. if they are with the hospital you are going to have surgery at, complain there. i would also talk to your bariatric surgeons office who most likely referred you there. they will not be happy about the uncaring treatment their people received.
it is amazing to me how evil people can be.
take care,

I am shocked and apalled at your story? I applaud the way you handled it
It saddens me that one human being can treat another human being in such a disgraceful was and apparently feel no guilt about it. You are making the right decision for you, and I am excited to someday see you on the losers bench!!!

I am so sorry that that happened to you. I work in a hospital and that is the most unprofessional behavior I have ever heard. You really should go back and complain to the manager of cardiac graphics.
The only good thing is is you know that you are doing the best thing for you. It does not matter what those ingnorant people think. In a year you can go back and rub it in their faces.
Again I am so sorry that happened to you. Good luck with your surgery

Complain. Write a letter to the manager of the cardiology department. I'm assuming the test was done at a hospital? Send a copy of the letter to Patient Relations. And if you were referred to this particular place by your surgeon, let him or her know what happened. That was unprofessional and cruel and never should have happened.

Thanks guys!! I am soo glad that I found this forum to let out my frustrations, ups, downs, joys, sadness...lol
Also they really made me feel like nothing was wrong with me and that I was just lazy or something, He just kept saying how young I was.he even got my heart to the rate it was supposed to be and told me to keep going if I could? Why? I mean are you getting a kick out of this or something? Another guy came in and was running beside me saying I feel your pain, no really you can't sir b/c a)I am on a treadmill that simulates me running up hill b) you are not morbidly obese c) I am already humiliated for having to run w/o a bra and just a hospital robe in a room full of normal weight people.
..I really hate to complain, I may though just b/c I would hate for anyone else to go through that & YES...I do think I am going to go back when I am in the area about a year from now and show off my success

Don't hate to complain. Really. The manager should welcome your feedback. If I was in charge and my employees were treating patients that way, I would sure want to know so I could do something about it. And yes, you could prevent others from being treated that way in the future, which would be a really good thing.
You know, when I get good service somewhere, I let them know. I was in the hospital last December with pneumonia, and they did such a good job. I wrote a letter thanking everyone and letting them know how pleased I was with the care that I got. I think people need to hear that. But I don't hesitate to let people know when I'm not happy with the service I get, either. I think they need to know that, too.
Stand up for yourself. Help the manager do his or her job by letting him or her know what's going on. And make the experience better for others in the future.

Ahhh sweetie, the first thought that came to my mind is how sorry I am that you had to go through this. Some people just don't THINK before they open their mouths! I agree with all of the above. A complaint needs to be made. That was so unprofessional. Complain to the center where the test took place...ALSO complain to the referring Doctor. They need to know this is going on...especially if they are going to be referring their bariatric patients. Keep your eye on the prize honey...all this will make you stronger in your resolve to succeed!

It infuriates me that you were treated so horribly! Especially by people who are supposed to help you..
You betcha, I'd be complaining to the higher ups about this completely unprofessional behavior. I would raise h*ll about this-and I've done so before...
