Vicki, I think I may try what you've done. I have long hair and seem to lose a bit more than usual every once-in-a-while on top, and I'm told that stress can sometimes play a part.

thanks for the suggestion!

Hello all,
I have to admit I was one of those skeptics about supplements however I can now tell you the Biotin I am taking is really helping ....I am alomst 10 months out and my nails look great and my hair is definitely getting more dense on top....I kind of have thin hair anyway but it really seemed to thin on the sides ....but gotta tell you that Biotin REALLY works...and it is coming back ....and my nails have never looked so good or strong....

good luck

BIOTIN is wonderful. I still have some hairloss, but it is minimal. My skin is clear and glows and my nails are longer and stronger than ever. I make sure to up my protein, of course, but I think the Biotin helps. I take 1,000mcg a day, which is 333% the daily value.

Just be prepared ... sometimes no matter how much biotin or how many precautions you take you still may experience some hair loss.

It's a hard pill to swallow ... but be rest assured it does grow back once the falling out process stops.

I thought I was a lucky one ... until it started ... I thought since I beat that 3 month mark I was home free .... well mine started at 4 months or at least that's when I noticed it.

But not my hair is really full and thick again and looks pretty good - and it's only 2 months later

So if it does happen just try not to panic ... it really isn't going to last all that long and it WILL grow back.

I was so afraid I was going to end up bald and that didn't happen at all .. when I say it fell out .. it just got thinner .... I in no way looked bald.

I have heard some do experience patches that fall out but even then it grows back shortly after.

As with anything I am sure there are a wide range of effects - everyone is different ... but from what I have seen and heard and experienced myself it's really just another bump in the road and will resolve itself before you know it

I am almost 2 years out and sadly still losing my hair really bad. I am not sure why either, but I am lucky I started out with a full head of thick hair or I would have nothing left.

I take 5000mcg of biotin daily, a zinc pill (forget how much), and I get all my protein and it still falls out in chunks. Really really upsetting. I am just hoping it starts to come back sooner than later.

Has anyone heard of Ovation Hair Therapy? I heard that it worked getting hair back, just wondering if has tried it. It can only be bought online.

I do think this theory has merit because I had my hair highlighted right after I had surgery and I still have no roots 2 months later. I think cutting it shorter and not touching it, over styling, etc. will slow the process so it doesn't look as drastic.

Hopefully anyways...
When you are deficient your body will steal protein from less critical systems (hair and nails) to supply its needs for healing and repair (like after surgery).

The deficiency will cause a weak spot on the hair follicle that will be prone to break off once the hair grows out a little. Once the weak spot is created it can not be repaired. Vitamins and supplements can only affect hair that is actively growing in the follicle. However, there may be product that can keep your hair supple enough so that it will not break as easily (applied externally).

When I was loosing hair, I also had a ridge develop on my finger nails (caused by the deficiency). I noticed that these issues ran in parallel, and that my hair problem was pretty much over about the same time as the ridge on my nails grew out. HTH
