Default Oh dear...Oh my....Oh gosh...Oh no......

SO, I called my surgeon's office at 8:30am to tell them the therapist was supposed to be faxing over my "clearance" letter and asked her to please let me know when that actually happens.

I waited for what seems like hours, and I did not hear back...I was getting so antsy, but I refrained from calling back or calling the therapist's office. I look at the clock, twiddling my thumbs and by now it is 8:40a.m. more time went by, then 9:15, then 10:00, then 10:09 and I am tapping my feet....11:20...11:56....12:10, I look at my phone and I have a voice mail. WHAT? I listen to it...It is the surgeon's office and she said she got my letter already and faxed my stuff over to insurance on Friday!

Strange, because the secretary said she wouldnt have time to do it on thursday and was off on friday...but, she must have felt guilty and did it anyway. bless her little heart.

Here is where the Oh Dear, Oh my....comes in. If I thought I was going to die just waiting for her to call me back--how on earth am I going to survive the wait for insurance approval? I would have been better off had I not had a clue when they faxed it over. So, it is no 5:46, do you think if I called them now they would have an answer for me??? (I am kidding!)

Stacie, I am SO there with you. The Dr's office submitted my paperwork to INS on 7/19 and I've called every day to see what the status is. It's been in the final stage since last Thursday-sitting on the RN's desk. I've become so incredibly obnoxious to everyone these past few days, cause I'm just anxious to get this show on the road.
I hope that you hear something soon.

Signed,

Mrs. Obnoxiously Impatient

We can be obnoxious together.

My last appt was june 18, i think. I have been waiting for six weeks for them to get it together (ok, so I had a small "delay/crisis" with the therapist) and in the meantime I went to another "supervised diet" appointment just because I figured I may as well...i would hate for them to tell me I needed it, and then not done it and have to start all over again. (My first appt to discuss it was in january....i didnt know if that weigh in counted or not--so, i figured i would go in july too, just in case.) I may not have really wasted anytime if I look at it like that, right?

I have seen a lot of people on here with Aetna (which is what I have) that were approved in just a couple of days-to weeks. I hope I am one of them...I just worry because of my BMI being right around 39-41. If I get denied over two pounds I will probably have a stroke. That will teach them.

WOW, you got done with all of your crap FAST!!! How does that work? It seems to be taking your insurance a long time, doesnt it? I mean your BMI is high enough and you have Apnea...it seems pretty cut and dry to me. I think you are good to go. Just when you call them back tomorrow, go ahead and tell them i said you should be approved and to go ahead and schedule it. Ok?

I am right there with both of you!! I was told on Friday afternoon that my paperwork was ready to be submitted to the insurance company for approval (or denial....errr!). All of my clearances are done, with the exception of the medical clearance from my PCP. ( I was told that the paperwork could be submitted to the insurance WITHOUT the medical clearance from the PCP.) I couldnt contain myself and ended up calling the surgeon's office asking if the medical clearance had been faxed (my excuse to call and find out about the submittal...lol). Of course, it hadnt and then I was told that my file is sitting on Leticia's desk for submittal. Any day now it will be submitted......I am anxious too! LOL. Isnt it horrible???? Pretty soon it will be over and the nerves will be transfered to waiting for the surgery date to come.......Hang in there girls and keep us updated as you learn anything new. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR APPROVALS...my fingers are crossed for both of you!

It is making me smile just reading your posts. I remember waiting too... never thought the call would come. What an emotional roller coaster. A year from now you will all look back at these posts and wonder how the time flew by.

Oooooh ooooh, me too! I've been comparing notes with Styxchic, I'm usually really competitive, but I'm okay with any of us getting our approval. I was submitted to insurance on 7/21. Right now I'm on vacation, and trying to RELAX! NOT happening. (Breathing deeply....) Anyway...here's to you all..I wish us all patience and I wish those around us compassion, more patience than we have, or the ability to tune us out completely!

Oh Golly do I remember the 'wait' for the final word from the insurance company...

Ohhhhhhhhhhh...do I remember those final days waiting for the approval...

In fact when they didn't call me back the day they said they would I was POSITIVE I didn't get approval I had already started on my next plan of attack.

When I called the office back the next day and asked them what I should do next since I wasn't approved they were confused...they didn't know what I was talking about...I was convinced they were just trying get 'rid' of me since I had 'not' been approved..... Turns out they forget to call me the day before and let me know I'd been approved....and couldn't figure out what the heck I was talking about...they thought I was having second thoughts and backing out of it.

In a year or so after your surgery you'll be reading about those those last few, nerve-wracking, agonizing days waiting on your approval and it will seem like another life-time ago.

I have my fingers crossed and wishing good thoughts and GOOD LUCK for all of YOU!

Just let us know when you get the GREAT NEWS!!

Hey now....no pinchin my nic. I am the ONLY obnixious wonder

Anyway, I know just where you ladies sit. I too drove my surgical team, my PCM, and insurance nutty with my 3 times a day callin. But, please remember you might be denied the first time. Do NOT let that get you down. Just keep up the fight and if I can help at all I will be more than happy to. I still have my boxing gloves and steel toed boots that I used to beat my insurance into submission if you need em.

Yeah... I'm there with you, too! I got the last of my stuff done Thursday and now I'm waiting. With no responses from anywhere. Going insane quickly.
