Hello...I am need of support please. I am so worried about staying on my liquid diet for 14 days. I don't officially start until this Thursday, the 2nd of July but I thought I would try and ease my way into it by starting with liquid all day then a balanced meal for dinner. Has anyone done it this way? Does it help? I am starving!! Am I crazy? Should I just wait until Thursday to start, then there is no choice! Should I enjoy chewing for my last few days. Help, please. Thanks everyone!:

Personally, I don't see that starting early would help any. The liquid diet is stressful for many. Come here and get the support you need. You can do it; a lot of us have, and if we can, you can too. I really didn't find it to be as bad as I thought it might be. I was so excited about the surgery by that time, that I think it got me through it.

If you are ready to do it, start it.

I would go out for your most favorite meal and then get to it. Who knows the few days added onto your time may make a big difference. It is all in prepping you for after surgery. As much prep as you can do before hand is the best.

YOU CAN DO IT :-)

No need to start early...that just seems like added stress.

Seriously, if I did it, you can do it.

Thanks everyone... I am sure I will be checking in daily for the support. Sometimes I just need a reminder! I am so looking forward to my day. Only 19 more days...I think I'll wait until the 14 days to actually start the liquid. You're right...VERY STRESSFUL! and did I mention HUNGRY?!

Thanks, all

Here is a link to my "pre-op diet thread"

2 weeks pre op. ugh.

It was tought but OOOOO so worth it.

I journaled everyday in my thread and it made me feel so much better.

Start an ongoing thread or a blog....it feels better to get the feelings out.

You can do this!!!!

It is soooo very worth it!

Default Today

Hello everyone-

Well today I decided to eat a little food and put off my liquid until the day I actually have to start. I realized you were all right why add the stress. It was so HARD yesterday and when I did have my dinner I am sure I over ate because I was starving. It would have been better to have just skipped dinner. So today I had a weight watcher breakfast thing and for lunch a half turkey sandwich and diet 7-UP. I feel SO much better! I have lost 9 pounds and have to loose at least 5 more by next Wednesday. I start the liquid this Thursday so it wil be almost a whole week that I will be on it before I am weighed so I am thinking I will be OK. I really want to have one last supper before Thursday as my goodbye. Any thoughts? Thanks everyone. 17 days and counting!

You'll get a lot of differing opinions about the last supper.....

I think what is most important is that you follow your doctor's orders. When they say its time to start liquid diet...DO IT.

Also, I noticed you said you drank a diet 7-up. I cut out diet pepsi pretty early on to let go of that addiction. That is something you may want to do now instead of when you start the liquid diet.

Good luck to you! It is SUCH an exciting time! :-)

I don't see anything wrong with having a nice "last supper," although I encourage you not to go nuts with it. You will get to eat again, even though it might seem like you never will. In fact, you'll be able to eat most of your favorite foods again, although in much smaller portions. So you don't need to pig out.

I thought it was exciting and the next step when we did the pre-op diet. I was nervous "what if I'm starving all day?" Turns out -- wasn't hungry much at all!
I was drinking all my water and had three protein shakes a day and we were allowed a small, sensible meal or snacks throughout the day -- but alll small and allll sensible.

I say -- Dive in! If you're ready to start it now -- go for it!

Note: Ours came with one of the most intense headaches I'd ever had for two days -- so if you can start it on a weekend, that's what I would recommend.
