Default angry, hurt, just want to vent

So I have been having problems with my back. Wednesday morning when I got up, it was so bad I could not walk. I knew I needed to go to the ER, but I could not walk to the car. My partner ended up calling an ambulance for me. They admitted me to the hospital and pumped me full of pain meds, then sent me home last night. Now, I am definitely feeling better than I was Wednesday morning, but I'm still in a lot of pain.

Now, I will say that my partner is usually very good at caring for me when I am sick. He was great in December when I had pneumonia, and he was great after my gastric bypass. And he took the day off work Wednesday to be at the hospital with me.

Well, I have not had enough protein the last couple of days due to being in the hospital and in too much pain or too zonked out on drugs to eat. So I needed to have a protein shake (or two) today. But I discovered we were out of milk. He must have used the last of the milk, by the way, I didn't. So I called him and asked if he would stop on his way home from work and pick up some milk. And he says, "If you want milk, go get some."

If I thought I could go to the store, I would have done that, I wouldn't have called him. I did end up going, and it was very painful. By the time I got back home, I was crying, it hurt so bad. Now I'm angry, and my feelings are hurt.

Kelly

Kelly

I am so sorry. You must have just caught him at a bad moment.

Have a shake and go rest and I hope you feel better soon!

Sorry things aren't going well. I have been like that before. Not really meaning too but just being frustrated with my partner when she was having pain and on meds. She quit her job right before that (without having another one lined up) and I felt overwhelmed and taken advantage of. Here I was paying for everything for 6 months and then I was supposed to wait on her too. On top of being the only one who cooked or cleaned. Um yeah I was at my breaking point. We talked about everything and she got a job and helped around the house more and things have been much much better since then. Hopefully it is something that he just needs to talk about. Best of luck to you hon!

Sounds like you have a really great guy. maybe you just caught him at an off moment. Try talking through it with him and let him know how painful it was to you physically and your feelings. I bet that will shed some light on the situation.

Hope you get better soon.

It's so hard when you're in pain and the fact that he's usually great with you, maybe it's a mixture of you being over-sensitive (I know that's how I get when I'm hurting), cranky and catching him at a bad moment.

Can I ask you a question - Could you have used water instead of milk? Although I haven't had my surgery yet (Aug. 31st) I met with my nutritionist yesterday and she stressed to use water instead.

I'm certainly not insuating that you shouldn't have even called, I just wanted to know.

I hope you're feeling better.

I have a feeling he probably feels badly about saying that. He sounds pretty supportive in general.

I hope things get better and you start feeling better soon Kelly

Actually, I can use water with my protein powder if I want. I just like the way it tastes much better with milk. Plus, I get extra protein and calcium from the milk.

Ditto what Foxyfuzz said.....I'm sure you just caought him off guard, and in a bad moment. BUT: I understand how hurt you are. I too was very ill with pneumonia this past February, and all those pre-op tests, then the surgery, I was waiting for my Husband to lose his cool, he didn't, but I can see where someone would. I saw the stress on Don's face. We try so hard to make life really good for each other, but He really carried the burden for a while. I'm sorry your back hurts so bad, I'm no stranger to bad back pain. Feel better, you're in my thoughts and prayers!

BINGO!!

I wouldnt even consider leaving the house with that much pain just for milk!!

The shakes work very well with water, and if your worried about the extra 8 or 10 grams of protein, then add another half scoop of water, and the calcium, well your not getting enough from the milk with out supplements, so that is out the window.

Also, keep some powdered milk handy, it lasts a long time, and if you get to a point that you must have milk, it there.

Regardless, it sounds like a wasted trip considering the pain if you ask me (which you didnt, but ....)
