Okay First of all - Why would I come to a website to mess around with people jerseygrl684? That's just retarded. Corrine, yes the OP is for real. Why would I lie about such a stupid thing. I had my surgery at Halifax medical center in Daytona Beach florida on the 10th of June. As far as my pre-op education I got what probably most people did. I had the class for the surgery with the nutrisionist and exercise physiologist and had my private appts. with both of them before the surgery. So it's not as if I dont know text book what you are and are not supposed to do. As far as the liquids they did give us the impression that you could not drink before and after meals due to lack of room in the pouch. So yes I was supprised that I could drink before and after meals. As far as the "TESTING" of the pouch that you all can't believe that I did so early. No it wasn't a pie bitch. I had 3 little round melba toast, and a little bit of raisin bran. I came to this forum for advice and support. I thought maybe some of you had been through the same thing. I guess your all perfect to youselfs but ignorant if you ask me. ragazzarosa- thank you for being the only one with positive feed back. As for those of you "banging your heads" - split them open!

Ok, and I was tryin to be nice, but now you brought it out in me. Apparently they didnt do a psych test on you toots. When you come on here saying you are testing your pouch at 1wk post op, it isn't always going to get a good reaction. We aren't going to pat you on the back and say "good job".

Hey if you can eat raisin bran 2 weeks post op that is awesome. I am just shy of two years and still can't eat raisin bran or any other cereal for at matter. Hats off to you. Good luck with your journey.

One question if they told you not to drink then why even try it ? Just trying to understand where you are coming from

Best wishes to you.

dumping is generally caused by a high intake of sugars or fats, probably not things you'd find in melba toast or raisen bran.

there are definitely some people who just don't dump. my surgeon told me about one of his (unsuccessful) patients who basically lived off of milk shakes and ice cream during her liquid phase. I've never experienced some of the more dramatic symptoms I've read people describe, but I've definitely eaten things that made me feel physically ill (the cheese off a slice of pizza, some tuna salad at a restaurant, etc).

either way, why test it and stress out your pouch, especially as early post-op as you are?

See me neither. Honestly at her stage post op I was still sucking down chicken broth and sf jello. oh mixed with protein powder. that was it. NADA nothing else.

Even at 2 years out i don't push the envelope. This surgery has put the fear of god in me.

Please stop testing yourself. After all the work it took to get your surgery, it's really not worth it. As far as dumping, once you experience it, you'll never question it again.

At her point, I was in the hospital again, NPO. Begging for ice chips. Maybe if i brought in pie I woulda been better.

Sadly, there are many who do lie on forums.

I tried to diffuse the situation and give you an opportunity to come back and get the advice and support that we all need - especially in the early stages.

I wish you well on your journey.

Gina had something in sig along the lines of "just because i can do it, doesnt meani should"

FOLLOW YOUR SURGEONS PLAN TO A "T" PLEASE. You dont want to end up with a post op issue that could have easily been avoided.
