Hi, my name is Lark and I'm looking at getting DS.

I just got my first denial from Cigna and I am finally clear on why they denied me and I am pretty upset and depressed about it.

Aside from dealing with that today I have been dealing with the majority of my personal friends who think that the surgery is not the right decision for me. My best friend today tried to tell me it was for the best essentially and then continued to just about come down on me about getting weight loss surgery at all as opposed to doing it naturally like she's trying to.

My parents are supportive but assuring me it will work out only goes so far when they haven't been through the process.

On the general DS website it says that you can find your own angel if you post on a forum and so here I am.

I have very little emotional support. No family in GA. My parents are coming down to help me with recovery but other than that I am on my own with the exception of planning to continue therapy after surgery and going to my doctor's support group meetings for DS once a month. There are people around me that are supportive but no one that I associate with outside work.

Anybody feeling saintly? Cause I seriously do need an angel and a little faith at this period of my life.

I'm sorry your friends aren't being supportive. Unfortunately, that happens. I have been pretty lucky in that regard, although I don't have a lot of close friends, and this forum has been a big help to me.

I suggest just not discussing your surgery much with your friends at this time, since they aren't able to be supportive about it. Rely on your support group and this forum for your support. Also whatever support you get from your parents. Surround yourself with as much support as you can, and ignore those who aren't supportive.

Wow! I was thinking I was the only one in GA. Nice to know there are a few of here.

BeBop--What form of WLS have you had? Have you met your goal weight?

I haven't had the surgery yet but I want the gastric bypass

well that makes sense lol.

I have been to seminar and have to turn in my paperwork to surgeons. I also have my letters from cardio and primary dr. I am slow lol
