Default Am I the only one who feels this way?

Okay so I am still jumping through the hoops to get approved for WLS. All these appointments and missing work for them is really stressing me out. I am still pressing on because a year from now it's really not going to matter. My PCP told me to try keep exercising and doing what I'm doing as I journey through this process. My problem is that I am so full of anxiety that I have gained 11 pounds in the past 2 weeks. I have got to stop this emotional eating. If I am this stressed out now, how am I ever going to deal with the post-surgery emotions? My therapist thinks I am a nut, I feel like one, I must be a nut. Any advice.

You're not a nut, you're in the same boat as a lot of us, but battling emotional eating will be a part of your life post-op, just as it is now. It never completely goes away, but we CAN succeed permanently. It's just a matter of not giving up the fight! The WLS waiting process can be long, confusing, stressful, and frustrating, but the end result is worth it. Don't give up, and don't give in (to eating binges, despair, etc.). My 14 months from WLS decision to surgery date seemed to take forever, yet I'm now 16 months post-op, and the time has flown by as I enjoy all the blessings of my renewed life...

Best wishes to you!

I felt the same way you did. I thought the doctor supervised diet was a big fat waste of money. What choice do we have, can't do it without the ok.
I am here to tell you hang in there, the six months or year will go by weather you are waiting or not . Get it over with try not to think about it. I look back now and think it is all over, I had my surgery on March 17 2008. I am through my 6 weeks post op and am down 50 lbs. The past is a blurrrrr. So hang in there you are not alone try not to think about it.
Good luck

Default Patience

I am getting impatient, I am doing all these tests jumping through hoops etc. I won't know until everything is completed if I will even get approved by my insurance. I suppose the bright side is that I will have a clearer picture of my overall health no matter what. I am trying to accentuate the positive.

Paige,

Every "hoop" is a step that these Dr.s know you need to take to be approved. They are not guessing and it really doesn't help them if you go through all of this and don't get approved....it took me 7 months of tests and evaluations and bloodwork and all kinds of BS but once I was submitted to the Insurance company (April 15) I was approved in 2 weeks and had my surgery June 5th and now all of that seems like nothing and like it took no time at all! I wish you luck and if you ever need someone to talk to please let me know!

I needed that time to come to terms with what I was about to do. I also will never forget what I had to go through to get the surgery, and I pray that I will remain grateful for this opportunity I have been blessed with. All the hoops I had to jump through, I was denied twice, and got really, really sick with strep pneumonia in February and was scared to death it would affect my chances of having the bypass, all of the time spent having all those tests, it showed me something about myself............I was so determined to have this done. It was soooooooooooooooo worth it all! It will all be a distant memory to you one day soon. Embrace the moment!

I am still trying my best to be patient. I know that a year from now this process will seem like it flew by. But while I am in the midst, it feels like an eternity. I am so thankful for all the support I have received from everyone on this forum who have been where I am. I love to read all the success stories and am amazed to read the stories about people who have had complication after complication and don't regret a minute. You all inspire me to press on!
