I am 7 weeks post-op and I haven't been doing so well. I am very week and fatigued. I have a strange discomfort near my pouch whenever I try to eat or even drink anything. Now I'm just turned off of food. The doctor seems to think I may have a stricture. Has anyone else had this problem????

If you had a stricture, you'd be vomiting probably. Do a search on strictures on this forum - there should be LOTS of information.
Actually, that discomfort is good - it means your eating is self-limiting. Be sure you are chewing every thing to mush. Take smaller bites. It is not unusual to feel like there are "rocks" in the pouch at first. It gets better.

Oh, and the weakness and fatigue - you will probably be adding iron and vitamin B shots soon. Just report it to your pcp. When they feel it is appropriate, they will add these things. I think I was taking iron by the 6th week. Get a good chewable bariatric vitamin. I use Celebrate.

When I had my stricture, I didn't vomit everything but, did vomit some. I was very weak from dehydration. I did get nausea and discomfort from water! That was strange. I would follow your surgeon's advice. Does he recommend an EDG?

Thank you for all of your replies. Well, I'll know for sure on Friday if I have a stricture or not. I've been scheduled for an endoscopy. My surgeon never mentioned Vitamin B shots but I plan on talking to him about it. I'm a mother of 4 daughters, 2 of which are teenagers. I need my strength. I will be sure to let you know the outcome.

Do you think the pain may be caused by being full? I have found unlike the "old" stomach, you know when your full you could still intake more food, to the point of being miserable? Well I have found that now when I'm full, that's it, period, I cant get another once of food in, and Ill bet that maybe you just "pushed the pouch" a little.
Never had a stricture, but I haven't heard of vomiting from it, I thought you just had problems getting food down.
The turn off thing may be the end result of the surgery, I was having lunch today with some people, and they were amazed when I explain that I have NO desire for food, the old smells and the sights of food just dont trigger anything...and to quote Martha Stewart..."Thats a good thing!!"

I feel this discomfort when I take a sip of water. I haven't been able to eat anything because it just isn't worth going through the discomfort. I'm back to sipping on broth just to try to get something, anything down.

Sounds just like me when I had my stricture. Keep sipping all the liquids you can. Dehydration will make you weak and give you headaches. Make it your focus to get as much fluid in as possible until your scope. I know it's hard but, so important. Stangely, some fluids bothered me more than others when I had a stricture. It made no sense. Water would make me nauseous (and I love water) but, SF jello or frozen fruit bars didn't. Also, juice hurt less than water.
