Default Emotional Eating

Any good advice on how to deal with emotional eating after my surgery?

Should I seek therapy or find a local support group?

Can anyone recommend a group?

Thanks Bridget.

I'm going to run a search now and see if there is a group in my area.

I just come here. I really love it! I guess it would be nice to have actual human contact, but I can come here everyday, anytime, anywhere. I just found out today that there is a support group in my area about 15 miles from my home, but I can't go because of work. If you find somewhere you like, let me know what group it is and maybe I'll make the leap too.

Much of my pre-op eating was "emotional" or habit eating. My surgery was just 6/8/05 and altho I really have no appetite, I can still feel the tug of emotions driving my urge to eat. It's a tough behavior to understand adn deal with.
Emotional Eating by Edward Abraham, is a paperback I found useful. Nothing, tho, really gets to it like group counseling.
Good luck with the battle!
