I'm Down on Flying High.
I just made reservations to fly up to see my oldest daughter in Sacramento. All I can think of is "Will I fit in the seat?!" Last time I flew I was about 30 lbs lighter (if that can apply to me) and the seat was pretty snug. I almost decided not to go because of this. That just goes to show me how much the obesity affects me. What else have I avoided or stopped doing because of my weight. I am trying to be very patient(?) waiting for all this psyc stuff to straighten out.
I will be so happy when I am actually approved and scheduled for surgery.
Heavy Sigh,
Marcia

Marcia,
I totally understand your thinking about cancelling your flight. That's just like us though. We cancelled our lives because of our weight. It makes me sad. I hope you'll keep your plans and keep in the back of your mind, it won't be this way for long.

I sooo understand how you are feeling. My mother and her 5 sister are going to Vegas this summer and asked me to come. I said "no", I believe the excuse I gave them was that I didn't really have the money, which was not true. The real reason was the plain. I flew to Florida about 3 year ago and I was much much skinnier then, and I can remember the seat being snug. I am just so afraid of getting on that plain and not being able to fit in the seat. I plan on taking my daughter on a disney cruise next year which will require us to fly first, that was the first plan I made when I started prepairing for the WLS. Soon, soon, we will be able to live life without all of these added worries.

Boy, I can feel ya! I went to Hawaii last year right before surgery, I was 330 lbs and absolutely terrified. I probably would not have gone on my own accord but I had won the trip thru work. I was a absolute nervous wreck about fitting in the seat, were they going to charge my company for 2 seats, etc. Of course I did have to have a seat belt extender but I fit in the seat ok. I am going back in 2 months and I won't even need an extender! I can't wait. Have a wonderful trip!

Ok I have to speak on this one as well.
Two years ago my husband and I went to HI. I was so upset about my top and bottom not fitting in the seat. My husband is a big man as well so both of us together created this really bad situation. by the time we got home 4 planes later and several tour buses later I swore I would never travel again until I lost weight. At least I would never fly that far. I did do a couple of vegas flights or San fran flights they are short and over quickly.
Today, two weeks ago we went to Alaska, we had to fly into Vancover to meet the ship. I am now down about 55lbs. I was so happy to sit down in the seat and fit. I wasn't at the end of the seat belt loop and I didn't have to ask for an extension or just pretend that the belt fit which I did once before. I was such a wonderful blessing. This is one of those things that I was looking forward to after surgery.
We will be returning to HI this Nov hopefully and prayerfully I will be down closer to my goal weight. I can not wait.
Please do not cancel your flight. Just do it! Don't let the worlds judgement stop you from enjoying your life. You do have plans to work on your weight issue. so enjoy today for what it is and hope and plan for tomorrow.

Marcia,
Ask for an aisle seat, and a seat belt extender. I've taken a couple of plane trips recently, and I'm larger than you are. Yep the seats are snug, but (no pun intended ) the aisle is easier to handle than the middle or window seats. Good luck!

I got iisle.
I was able to reserve seats on line and got aisle seats on three of the planes (puddle jumper!, I think it has 13 rows!). Of course the last one is a center seat. Oh well, I'll adjust!
I am going my daughter is so excited, I couldn't disappoint her. I get to see my Aunt and my Dad, also.
