Stay focused on your goals
First off, when we lose a bunch of weight, we look out of ourselves differently. If you had your head down before, if you didn't expect the smiles, they may have been there and you didn't notice.
And I don't want to sound like an asshole, but men we don't know are not thinking "Wowza!" when we weigh 200 pounds...They think that about size 2, blonde, big boobed women. I mean, I'm a size 6 now and get a certain segment of men who are looking at me (most have big bellies and stained t-shirts) but the divorced doctor driving the Lexus, not quite - if you know what I mean. we have to keep perspective. This is about our health for 90% of the journey. People we know are cheering us on and we are seeing the world differently.
Getting attention for change makes sense - I mean - people are often truly impressed or happy for you as you take off those first big chunks of weight. That will change as you become thinner than they are. You will become a threat and all of a sudden, they're telling you you're too thin. Yea...they say that to me and I'm not even under a BMI of 25 yet, but at a size 6, I am smaller than 1/2 the women I know now, and some of them are getting very weird around. me. I have one friend who now is always smoothing her shirt over her tummy when she talks to me. Not comfortable.
Mainly, I try to stay focused on my goals. If I listen to all the comments, I might not work as hard. I might not be true to why I started this process and might not go all the way. Smile, say thanks, don't take the complement too seriously, and stay focused.
