Well it's a new day and there are new problems arising post op. I can't eat. It makes me feel sick to my stomach. I've started drinking carnation instant breakfast (no sugar,) mostly because my parents are making me. I started running a fever tonight. Not horrible, just 100.6, but I've been sleeping a lot and just plain old feel like crap. I'm assuming my whole feeling bad is stemming from the fact that I haven't been keeping up with food or fluids. Did anyone else have this problem? Where it seemed to make you feel worse when you put anything in your mouth? My mom's afraid I'm going to get pneumonia so she's making me do the voldyne ten times a day. My 'score' has been anywhere from 2000-3500 (depending on how I feel and the time of day.)

Jessi - I had a low grade fever on/off for about 10 days. Just keep drinking as much water as you can and keep an eye on things. If in doubt, call your doc.

I didn't get on at all well with the Carnation Instant Breakfast - it was so sweet it made me feel sick.

It's worth trying some other protein drinks.

I know this is a tough time but you really do have to try to get more liquid inside you. What about sugar free ice pops?

Hey Jessi,
I am so sorry you feel so icky. How long ago was your surgery? If it is within the last 10 days just hang in there. I took me that long to feel normal. I went for a follow up with my doc at 10days and said "I can't drink enough" and he said "No one ever does. Just do the best you can" How much water are you getting down? That is the important part at the very early stages. I "ate" protein shakes too. EAS was my favorite. Watch that it doesn't have sugar though.
