Default Update #2 on Mike

OK, first off...anyone in the midwest, Dr. Coster is amazing. He's the doctor you want in your corner! (And he's a Center for Excellence for Medicaire and Insurance companies....the "other hospital" is not!)

Mike had a partial bowel obstruction. The best guess is that it was an adhesion from his appendix surgery 30 years ago....it's so low in the pelvis. The good news is that after all the meds - and I lost track of those!! - and fluids - lost count at 7 bags of fluids, the blockage came loose at about 2:30 this morning. THey ran more pictures about 7 and the contrast went through. Soft food about noon and still no pain, so they released him. He's under strict orders on foods and fluids!!!! Also, if this type of pain ever comes back...he's to get his skinny little butt right over to Grinnell where they will get him taken care of.

We just got home. Mike feels like some one kicked him in the gut and a little tired and groggy....but he's drinking his water and relaxing. We're keeping our fingers crossed this was it ....but we know the risks.

Thank you everyone for the kind words!!! Donna...thank you too for the info and I'm sorry you know this stuff all that well! Take care everyone and have a great rest of the weekend!

Glad to hear that the problem is finally solved and that soon things will be back to normal.

I'm glad he is home and feeling a little better. I hope that he doesn't have to go back, and all is fixed.

I'm very relieved he is home and didn't have to have surgery for this. Tell him we are thinking of him and get back on here himself soon and tell us he's better.
