regrets
Many people initially during the first 2-3 wks. regret the surgery because they are so miserable. I haven't personally met anyone that regrets it six months later when they've lost a ton of weight and feel so drastically better. Be patient.....you'll be okay. Keep sharing your thoughts and fears. We're here for you. Suzanne

I am in a rather bad rut. No job. No car. No family. No friends. No money. My man really far away. I get so sad about it all that I barely even wanna get out of bed in the morning. It seems pathetic, I know, but I dont know what else to do or think. I am pretty lost.

Hey Heather!
I know what it's like to be depressed, it sucks, it hurts & it's hard! But girl, time to END THE PITY PARTY!!! The more you sit around & eat ice cream, the worse you're going to feel!! Get out & move!! Just because you don't have a car doesn't mean you can't go anywhere! WALK!!! You have been given an opportunity to CHANGE YOUR LIFE!! Time to use it!! I promise you, if you start walking & getting some exercise you will start to feel better...it is physically impossible for you not to! And guess what? Even if you are alone, now that means you get to take all of the credit for yourself when you start dropping some serious lbs.!!
I know you are unsure about everything right now, but look at the facts...you did have the surgery. You can't change that, so use it!! I know you'll do great, just hold your head up high & get it done!!!
YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

Hey thanks again Ladies
As far as the walking thing I live about 11 miles away from the nearest town so walking to go anywhere is not gonna work right now. I'd probably get lost lol.

Hi Heather,
I remember being where you are. But now, I'm 11 months out and have lost 114 pounds. I have to say that Hell Week is worth it!
You don't have to walk all the way to town. Get out into the sunshine and walk to the end of the street and back. Just get into the SUN and get moving!
Sunshine boosts your melatonin levels, which combat depression. The endorphins you'll release by exercising just a bit will also combat depression.
I struggled with depression for years, sweetie. I know it in an intimate way. It feeds on darkness and idleness. Open the curtains in your home, turn on all the lights if you have to, but make your place BRIGHT. I walked laps around my kitchen table because that was all I could do. Get MOVING in any way you can!
And do NOT sit around in old sweatpants with dirty hair and no makeup on. Take a shower and fix yourself up, whether anyone is going to see you or not. YOU will see you. And it will make you feel better. You probably already have some clothes lying around that didn't fit before surgery that will now. Put them on and celebrate!
Right now you have the opportunity to make this the best thing you've ever done in your life. I know it seems like the darkness can't be shaken, but if you fight it you can win.
I wish you the best!

What everyones saying is right but I still worry about her. She needs lots of soup, water, and protein shakes over the next month and it doesn't sound like she can afford it

I had a VERY hard time with the surgery!! I was so excited and so thrilled and waited so long for it, and then I woke up after surgery and I was in so much pain. It was really hard for the first two months, a lot because I ended up with a complication and having to have another surgery a month later, and I felt regret often. I am now over 3 mos past and I am doing SO GOOD now. I am feeling the weight loss and able to eat somewhat normally again (much less of course but can have a bit of this and that like "normal" if you know what I mean). I feel GOOD, finally, and I am so happy I did it. It was hard, and I don't know if I had to do it all over again if I could, but I am really glad I did it.
Hang in there -- It DOES get better. Just keep your chin up and do the best you can. It will get easier and easier as time goes on and you heal.

Take this from someone with a little life experience.
Sweetie YOU deserve the BEST and nothing but. My only 1 regret is not having the surgery sooner! yes I have 60lbs to go, BUT I have more self confidence and let me tell you maybe if I had that 15 years ago I probably would have been a hell of a lot more choosey in the man department.
You will do just fine. Pamper yourself this week. Don't sweat the small stuff.........relax. Know that you did what was right for you, and your life will be so much better for it........TRUST me......you don't want to have gone down the road I did. You deserve NOTHING BUT THE BEST!

Hi Heather,
My name is Elizabeth, and I am exactly one week out from surgery today. The day I came home from the hospital, I felt awful (emotionally, not physically). I already have General Anxiety Disorder and panic attacks, so that day I had a panic attack and SO regretted having the surgery. I was in tears and I called my doctor's office to talk to the nurse, who told me that even patients without panic and anxiety call her crying and terribly upset. Then I called my therapist and made an appointment for the next day. After talking to the nurse and my therapist, I felt a lot better.
I know I don't have all the same setbacks that you do, but I know you can make it through. Keep talking to anyone who will listen, and get all your feelings out. Talk to friends, family, boyfriend, strangers on the street--eventually you'll feel better.
Seriously, like someone said earlier, get out and walk! Even in the country or mountains or wherever you live. You will feel so much better, I assure you.
Also, keep coming to this site: many people have replied to your posts, so even if you're alone, you're not--we all care for you. If you need money for vitamins, let us know--I would chip in to help you.
Good luck, and please keep us posted about your progress, your tough days, weeks, etc., and anything good that happens, too.
Take care,
Elizabeth
