Some encouragement pleeeeaaaase!
Ok, here's the situation... I SCREWED MYSELF UP! I rcvd my RNY approval on May 19th! The problem was I was hell bent on the Lapband! My coordinato told me to talk to my surgon and make sure I didn't want RNY, well my stubborn self told her no, I wanted LB, so she proceeded to go for LB approval. Well needless to say I spoke to my dr. and decided that RNY is better for me, so my co said give her until today and she should have rcvd the RNY approval, well I called today and now I have to wait until Wed. to see if I will be approved again.
I am so anxious ( I have anxiety disorder) So my question is, since I was already approved ( she applied for the wrong procedure at first) and then she went to fix her mistake, now that I actually have decided on RNY, there shouldn't be a problem with being approved again right? I am already doing my 2 wk preop diet and everything, what if......? I know I'm rambling, but please any encouragement or advice would be appreciated!

Hey, don't worry I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine. I've seen lots of people on here that have had RNY but were originally approved for Lap Band.
Patience my friend and soon the prize will be yours.

I agree with the others... there should be no big problem with switching to the RNY. You obviously met the requirements for the lap band and, at least for my insurance, they were the same for both RNY or Lapband.
Relax... breathe... start planning your future.

I was actually "set" on the band too, until I saw my surgeon. Granted, they didn't put in for the band to insurance, BUT since I had a letter from my gastro about the band and saw the NUT about the band, I got a new letter and saw the NUT again. Then I had to change my date from June 24 to June 23 b/c they do rny on Mondays and band on Tuesday. LOL My insurance company (Oxford) has the same requirements for band and rny, so I don't think you should have a problem. Just make sure you take care of those other things I mentioned above, if necessary. Good luck!

I was one that the insurance company approved for lapband but I wanted the RNY. Paperwork mix up. We resubmitted for the RNY and was approved about 1 week later.
So, like others have said, get ready to live your new life soon!
Take care
